Why even try?

So, I finally found out about the "Train System" that they're building here. It starts at Riverfront park and has stops in Donelson, Hermitage, Marta (never heard of that), Mt. Juliet, then ends in Lebanon. So much for a station by MTSU it seems. That's not really very helpful in general because...it's the same as a bus route from downtown to ( Read more... )

Since I know you'll read this, you should check out the book "The Physics of Superheroes" by James M. Kakalios. It's wicked schweet. =)

Bus: navigates traffic
Train: does not navigate traffic

Therefore, trains are about a kajillion times faster than buses.

But yes, the first line in Nashville's sprawling mass transit system runs through Hermitage. Because we know that the worst traffic in the city is on I-40 out of Mount Juliet, and isn't, say, I-65 out of Madison or Brentwood or I-440 junction at I-24, no sirree.

O RLY?

Srsly though...yeah. Whizzle the fizzle my nizzle? It would have been really convienient if they had kept that plan to go straight to Murfreesburger. Then I would be able to go to MTSU. ;_; Petroleum is not my friend!

Around here, you can drive where you need to go, or pay $1.75 per one-way trip to get where you need to go. Unless you're burning a nearly a whole gallon of gas -- that's a trip most of the way across Atlanta -- it's actually more economical to drive.

The only real advantage is getting to venues where traffic is super-congested, like concerts or sports events, and even then the main advantage is in the speed of your arrival rather than the cost incurred.

To make it financially viable, you more or less need to get a monthly pass. Around here, those are $60, but you can ride and transfer as many times as you like on that card. And you can be damn sure you pay more than $60 a month on gas.
