I don't know whether I should even tell you this, it may only piss you off.

I wish you had asked us about this, we might have been able to save you a BUNDLE. A friend of ours does HVAC, including furnace installs, and she gets them at wholesale rates, doesn't mark them up (or at least, not much, from what I could tell) and charges mostly for her labor. Ridiculously cheap.

Example: she installed a new 85% efficient, 55,000 BTU (small, but ones sized for a big house don't cost much more) Goodman furnace, and re-worked the ducts, and re-worked the gas supply line, for < $1,000. That's labor and price of furnace included. Goodman is the same as Amana, Janitrol, and a couple of other better-known brands. Of course, if one wanted a more expensive unit, she'd still be able to get it at a very low price compared to almost anyone in town, and unlike other installers, she doesn't mark up her hardware, she makes her money on her labor ( ... )

I meant to add, my example was the new furnace in our garage. For your house, you'd probably want a unit with more like 75,000 - 100,000 BTU output, I dunno. The installers have some formulae to figure it out, based on size of house and how well insulated, and the efficiency of the unit.

Uhmmm, yea because you guys haven't had much going on the last couple of weeks for me to bug you about my furnace.

BUT I Don't think I got a bad deal, when I put in my heated gargage I will be sure to get your friend's name!!

Thanks!
