maggie is having a really hard time right now. for those of you who don't know, she cut her little paw pad while she was playing with kona on thursday. So, on friday, amy took her to the vet for me and the vet wanted to charge $270 to PUT HER UNDER TO CLEAN IT!!! and bandage it, give her antibiotic shots and pills and for doctors fees and stuff

i thought about that, but, i only have extra strength tylenol, and i don't think that would be good for a dog. i think i'm going to get some aspirin tomorrow for her because i read on a website that it was okay to give a little to dogs.

i would try baby aspirin first to use. she could be whining because she's uncomfortable. the main thing is to keep her from licking it, which the bandage will help with. you also want to make sure you don't bandage the wound too tight because the cut needs oxygen to heal. if you got her the cone to put around her head, then she couldn't get to her foot, and you could take her bandage off. the air helps heal it faster because air can get to it, and it stays dry. you just don't want her walking through any dirt. what you're doing is good so far though. if you find that it's not healing with bandage on, try taking it off and maybe getting an elizabethan collar.

thanks, ava, you are precisely who i should have asked for help in the first place! so, if i get her the collar and take the bandage off, should i maybe only do that while she's sleeping or something so she doesn't walk around and stuff? because my carpet's not exactly sterile. can she sleep in one of those cones?

you can give her half a tablet of benedryl. it'll make her sleep more. give it time to heal. because its not going to heal as well as it would if she would stay off of it. y'know?
