Isn't it a pity that such advice, however true it may or may not be, is virtually useless to everyone, except the utterer of it? (To the utterer it's not just useless -- it's damaging) Come to think of it, it is not a pity -- it's actually a good thing. Life probably wouldn't have been worth living otherwise. =)

That's not true.

I know what you're saying. You're saying you have to learn things the hard way. I'm fully aware that I'm not going to save anyone from a painful life lesson. The thing is, after having learned it, having read it elsewhere may help them to understand their experiences.

I don't think it's virtually worthless :)

You're correct though. It's the not knowing that makes life worth living.

yeah, that, too.

but more likely, I'm just bitching 'cause I'm envious that I can't have that outlook on life -- in terms of advice one can give (or take), for example :)
