It's certainly a good idea to "create your own placebo effect". That is, remind yourself that you are greater than you may have beleived in the past.

One part of your blog that seemed to jump out at me was a concept psychologists call "locus of control". Essentially, it points to where a person places control for their life circumstances. So, if I beleive that my position at GCC was earned, you could say that I have an internal locus of control. However, I doubt that this is true. I KNOW that my hard work is only half of place in life now. I did not earn my post on my own. What do you think some external factors might for my post? or for yours? or for the coworkers you speak of? Are there times when an internal placebo- although it is immensely important- simply will not work?
