Downton

I don't know if it's because Downton Abbey is such a prim and nice costume drama and I feel the need to be the complete opposite in response, or because I'm so excited about the return of the Thick of It that I'm channelling that show a bit, but I felt possessed to do a review post on the lastest episode of Downton Abbey in entirely capslock, and ( Read more... )

Branson is so hard to deal with, because on the whole I love his and Sybil's story (and it's not really one you tend to see in period dramas or fiction) and he is utterly adorable, but yeah, there is always that little "remember last season?" going on there. I may just become like the people who ignore whichever bits of canon they don't like because "the writing was OOC" and be happy with that. Sybil/Branson was my favourite thing about the first season - they were just absolutely gorgeous, so I was thoroughly disappointed with the season season writing of Branson. If they write Branson better this season, I may be able to put down Branson being a pushy emotionally manipulative insecure jerk through season two being a mistake rather than intentional, in that the writers were stuck with what to down with the pairing and didn't intend for Branson to come off quite as badly as he did. They're so sweet and pretty and I love the clash of worlds, so I'm willing to ignore a lot more than I normally would for the Sybil/Branson pairing ( ... )
