Dragon Age, Breaking Bad and Once

I made a big push to try and finish Dragon Age yesterday, because while I'm having so much awesome fun trying to save a land with an adorkable knight, a swamp witch with no social skills and my pet war hound - I want my damn life back. Are they saying that it's solely the power itself that has corrupted her? I was feeling like the point of having her obviously-doomed-to-fail cold turkey attempt, plus the flashbacks, was that it's not that she needs to stop doing magic period (she's capable enough of being unpleasant without it, when she wants), it's that the magic isn't what actually makes her evil.

Maybe I'm reading more into it/giving it the benefit of the doubt because it generally does pretty well with the female characters, IDK.

They are saying she'll find redemption by giving it up which is saying so by implication - at least that's what Regina's fixated on, and I can buy Regina fixating on something wrong and essentially trying to achieve redemption by going cold turkey rather than actually evaluating herself and her issues and choices, but in the latest episode Dr. Hopper seems to be backing her on it - and he's supposed to be a trained professional or something and there has been no contrary view put forward. Plus there was that whole crazy high thing she did in the second episode ( ... )
