-- And yes, I realize that if it's an ongoing pattern, then I'm the one who should do the changing. --
Why?
Every year thousands, perhaps millions, of salmon swim home, against the current and many fail to reach their goal. Should they stop? They wouldn't be salmon if they did.
We should all keep the feelings and well being of the people around us as equal to our own, in my opinion. I don't think a lack of empathy has EVER been your problem.
If someone has difficulty with you- with who you are- take them to the beach and hand them a broom. You can change for them when they're done sweeping. :)
Thanks, hon. I appreciate that, and I try really hard to remember it. I have no problems keeping that perspective when it comes to life choices, speaking out, etc., but it gets VERY frustrating on a personal, relationship level.
And, at the risk of sounding cavalier, if you don't want to be 'well-behaved', then change it! I realize it's not that easy, but the way I live my life really is just an ongoing series of small choices that add up to the grand whole.
Make one thoughtful, respectful, but adventurous (for you!) choice a week that you normally wouldn't. :D

So your behavior isn't what some people consider well behaved. I guess they are afraid of making history and you aren't. I envy you. I'm well behaved.
