So, I just saw "No Country for Old Men", and I've been meaning to post about it. The movie is an awesome experience. The Coen brothers have a talent for creating some of the best dialog...and their trademark dark humor throughout "No Country for Old Men" is part of why I enjoyed it so, so much. Javier Bardem's lines, in particular, cracked me up.

I disagree somewhat about the ending, though immediately after the movie, I felt dissatisfied with it, as well. However, after thinking about it more, I really liked how the ending was more open-ended...it was a risky move, and I appreciated how it wasn't the typical Hollywood-style ending, where everything is wrapped up nicely. It makes for more fun discussions about the movie's themes and what the ending could have meant.
BTW-I'm pretty sure that the girl (the protagonist's wife) got killed, because you see Anton wipe his boots after he leaves her house. Earlier in the movie, Anton puts his feet up on a chair to avoid the blood all over a hotel floor. This makes me think that Anton is wiping his boots to similarly get rid of the protagonist's wife's blood.

Yeah, I liked that it wasn't the typical ending, but I really wanted to see a huge blow-out between Moss and Chirgurh. I mean, they went through all the trouble and killings for the money, why not face each other in the end? I would have at least liked to have seen Moss get killed on screen, no matter who would do it because the way it ended was unsatisfying to me. :/
I didn't see Anton wipe his boot off but maybe I just missed that. Next time I see the movie I'll have to keep my eyes open. =)
