Disproportionate responses?

I have spent some time wondering about how and why some people react to erotica on the Internet. Specifically us - people who read fic, appreciate art, watch vids, etc that are shippy or sexual or romantic in nature. Here is what I have discovered about myself:

are you curious? )

ummm I feel just those four but the last one I don´t hate the writer just the fact that I didn´t noticed what I was reading and I guess to each its own, some people might "hate" us for reading slash or think is eww but whatever I don´t judge so I hope no one judges me that´s how I was raised so I guess it has a lot to do with our surrondings. Some people might react "badly" because (I think) they are scared of the unknown and the lack of information has a lot to do with it and if someone says is disgusting there will be at least other five people thinking like that.
no i´ve never really thought like that if I don´t like it I won´t read it but that is because yet I didn´t find something that I really hate or dislike or offend me in some way so no I never wanted to inflict real damage to that hypothetical person. I tried thinking some other reactions (besides of crying because I think that one fits in number 1) but i´m tired and wanna go to sleep :)

Yeah, no, I'm with this.

I mean, I can get sassy about fics that fall into category 4, but not. At the involved people. I don't know what it is that pushes people to make - or follow through on - threats that stem from fandom.

It's fandom ):

Okay, fine, it was a really hot fic. Just... I can't with the icons.

Your categories are pretty broad so pretty much any reaction can fall underneath them. "I hate it so much that I end up judging the person who produced it" is an exception, but if it was shortened to just "I hate it" then it could span several strong dislike reactions.

I might add some sub categories

Under "I like it" I would add
"I like it so much I'm obsessed with it"
"I like it so much I actually hate it because I wish I'd created it"
"I'm surprised I like it because I don't particularly enjoy that fandom/ship/kink/etc"
"I'm surprised I like it because that fandom/ship/kink/etc is sick and now I'm a little worried about myself"

Oh, yes! I like your sub categories. I fall into those spaces quite often.

*sorry to step into your post but I vehemently agree*

Yes, the positive reactions fall into a ton of subcategories. But, I guess my point was, the ABSOLUTE WORST reaction I ever had to fannish works has been to maybe judge someone in my head and move on.

Re: your last one, omg, I remember like two years ago when I had that reaction to the Jonas Brothers. And now I can't break free. :(

That last paragraph used to happen in HP fandom ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Ship wars got so intense that people were digging up work addresses and threatening to inform bosses that their employees wrote about fictional teenagers fucking.

IT WAS WEIRD.

dear god, i'm glad i've almost entirely avoided all popular fandoms. spn is the only really popular fandom i've ever been in and sometimes it scares me, but not in a 'maybe i should install security cameras' way. :(
