I have never been so angry at Genma in my entire life. He was completely out of line offering to take on Kabuto in my stead, both professionally or otherwise. I was his commanding officer, with a higher rank and more field experience, and he DARED step in front of me on the battlefield? How COULD he? He could have been killed and... and...
... and it would have been all my fault.
I would have rather died myself than lose him. To know that if it weren't for me, if it weren't for this life that we've chosen for ourselves, he would be here, next to me. I can't lose them both. I just can't keep losing people I love.
It's killing me slowly.

I seriously considered bringing Genma up for review for his little indiscretion, but as I was tending to him at the hospital (I admit I might have been a little rough with him, but he deserved it) I realized I just couldn't do it. Now matter how angry I was that he FOUGHT KABUTO, I wilted in the face of his explanation. Then, as I was preparing to take great pleasure in dabbing alcohol on his wounds, he threw something at me that I totally didn't expect.
"Thanks," he said, expression infuriatingly neutral.

"For caring, even if you show it in a hostile manner."
Hostile am I? Okay, so I'm a little hostile. "Well... thanks for being a stupid idiot," I replied, turning away. I could feel my cheeks heat up at the way he was looking at me.
He chuckled. "Dinner sometime?"
What? "What?"
"Do you want to go to dinner sometime?"
Trigger meltdown in 5... 4... "... like... on... a date?"
He shrugged. "If you want."
3... 2... "Well is that what you were asking!?"
I wonder how Genma can stay so calm all the time. "You can take it as you wish; I'll be satisfied either way."
Meltdown initiated. "SHIRANUI GENMA, ARE YOU ASKING ME OUT!?"
He looked as if he were in deep thought. "Yeah, I guess I am."
I put the rubbing alcohol away. "Okay."
"Okay?"
I smiled. "Okay."
