From the new approvals questions: "List the three most and least admirable qualities about your PC, as seen from an IC and OOC perspective
( Read more... )
I think you've got a very solid grasp of your character. I don't see "Least Admirable qualities, OOC Perspective, #1" as a bad quality, though. By not cooperating with any of the social conventions of the venue, it causes others (should cause others) to consider why they do.
At the risk of being obnoxious, I'd say that one of his least admirable qualities IC is that he is very proud of not having forgotten his humanity, to the point of arrogance. This might be my own IC reaction, of course. :-)
I don't think that's something he's proud of, but I can totally see that he'd give off that impression. The whole reason I put the GI Joe factor into him is that I wanted something very influential in his background that had a "never say die" attitude. It could've been the same if he'd been a professional athlete or a starving musician who'd clawed his way to fame; I wanted someone who, though he knows defeat is possible ('cause he might die before he gets where he's going), he'll never accept or even acknowledge that possibility in the things he says.
Still... that's a very good thing for me to consider. Might be a better "least admirable" line item than what I've already got. :)
What I mean is, he obviously resents being a vampire and what appears to be a bit of self-disgust sometimes comes off as disgust for others, not just suspicion. As if because he doesn't enjoy his condition, he is better than those who do.
For me this comes from remembering several conversations with Tanner that left Nina near-suicidal from guilt for having allowed herself to be Embraced. That's why I said it might just be my own IC reaction. :-)

This is totally understandable. I don't especially want Tanner to be a judgmental guy, but given how strongly he feels about those issues, it's hard for him not to come off exactly that way. And yes, he does feel like he's better than a lot of other vampires (though by no means all).

...YYYIKES! Man, I remember that stuff, too. It was all, "How do I not sound like a condemning bastard and NOT sound like a total hypocrite?" I didn't know he'd have THAT kind of effect, though.
