Screwing the Paradigm II (the Sequel): Nazi Vampires

Sep 17, 2007 20:58

Or, "Why I Wish Most of My Covenant Were DEAD. No, Really."The reader would need to refer to the "150 Pirate Vampires" incident in my previous entry to know why this irks me so much. You see, it's fresh. It's part of a rolling avalanche of "what the FUCK?" that has afflicted my game lately ( Read more... )

Hey, at least you're "part of the Chain", right? Rushing off to go to any proxy that drops is apparently the only thing that matters now. I'm still getting IC heat for being nice to Samantha Von Stahl. I'm having people in Olympia plan big events just to not invite me.

That's ultimately why I dropped out of the CSDF in favor of the PPI... Heinrich's plans always involve kicking ass and taking names, and my character is more about asking questions. Too bad not many STs care about answers.

Don't worry about the "superhero" comments. It's basically an offshoot of the same reaction most players have with the very concept of the Carthians as a playable element. It doesn't fit neatly into what they know from oWoD, so they just assume we're either Anarchs or Brujah Antitribu, and therefore, antagonists. Somebody called Jack Ketch an "antagonist" this week, and I was dumbfounded, since it was somebody who hasn't ever even taken the time to talk to him IC.

PARADIGM, people.

I really wanted to mold the CSDF into something completely different. I wanted it to be in Paradigm... the Carthian SELF-DEFENSE Force, a professional, structured military as a viable mirror to the anachronistic Knightly Orders of the Invictus.

When Lino and I got together to do this, there were high hopes.

Sadly, I don't think that it will ever be what I wanted it to be.

CSDF is lame. The ST's plots are a little lame (mind you I am biased, but I thought this when he and I got along).

So far as plotkits, the ST chain needs to lay off on the "bad guys" for a good long while, at least in the "X-Men Charge The Gates Way." The US NST and his staff has done this from their end, but local VST's and other affiliates are not.

I feel you man, and this is why I avoid most plot like the plague. My suspension of disbelief can only take so much, having already been in two of these nutty proxy's myself.

Regards,

-Brent

I look for plot because PvP is so grossly overloaded with knee-jerk bad sportsmanship. Even when I "win," I'll still lose because I'll have to deal with all the OOC fallout crap that will result.

It makes me very sad when I can't trust plot to be more appealing.

And again, it's not "plots" that I have a problem with. I was totally down with the vampire Nazis. It's the player reaction that I think is patently ridiculous. Vampire Pirates? I'm there. 150 Vampire Pirates? You gotta be kidding me.

And as for "CSDF," it was the CSDF PCs who talked the most sense, actually. Finn, Heinrich, my own PC... they were the ones who knew this was stupid. I think the military-esque airs the CSDF puts on are silly, and I've said so in character repeatedly, but I don't have a problem with the "Carthian boot squad" being something more than just mindless thuggery.

Sure, but in my PVP I have to worry about passive aggression and people bitching, but I know that I try and do everything I can to mitigate hard feelings, and if people get too bitchy I literally am like: "I am sorry you feel that way, but I have expressed my opinion as best I can, and done my very best to not be a dick about this. Who wants pancakes for afters ( ... )

I am tired of the rampant PvE that seems to be going on also. Like you, the 151 Carthian pirates was a bit too much for me. I guess its the ST in me that questions why, how, and to what extent? That plot came out of nowhere for me, and for most of the city *sighs*

As for the CSDF, I have yet to see them react as a solidified group enough to be called an army...(no offense), and having been a member of the PPI (though a secret member :) ), I am sort of amused by the thoughts of getting enough Carthians together to actually work cohesively, like an army.

I'm with Brent - Suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

I'm in. Give me a call sometime, or e-mail me your #, and I'll call you. We'll plot and scheme and find a way to do the game some justice for once.

If you're interested.
