HILL WALKS INTO ROW
Downing Street's new communications chief has courted controversy because of his business links before even taking office. David Hill is yet to officially start his new job but is already at the centre of a row over his financial interests. The Sunday Times said Mr Hill owns around 95,000 share options in a lobbying and public relations firm. The paper said he is unable to cash in the options with his current employer Chime Communications for several years. Its clients include the GM food company Monsanto. Unless Mr Hill gives up the options, he would have a continuing financial interest in the firm. According to the paper, the Government may have to pay a "golden hello" to compensate Mr Hill for surrendering them. Downing Street said Mr Hill would comply fully with the rules governing conflicts of interests.
