A heat pad on the back of the neck/upper shoulders also helps a tension headache. I also love to drink Celestial Seasonings' Tension Tamer tea (available at any grocery store) -- it tastes super yummy, and it really helps. Taking a super hot shower and letting the water hit the back of your neck/head can help. Remembering to stand up and stretch throughout the day -- roll your shoulders, stretch your arms -- can also help.

Love from your resident tension headache sufferer :)

Good luck. Check to see if any little shops have a pillow with lavendor(?) and such in them, they can be warmed or chilled as needed. Warm is nice to use when your trying to sleep.

I really like my muscle relaxers (Rx, but very inexpensive) for my tension headaches... or an ice pack on my neck/shoulders...
