lol...sorry Jess no offense to you. (further apologies if you have no idea who I am, although it would be odd if Tristan talked about me...I'm an online friend that met him back in the day. I wish I could meet you, I've heard only AMAZING things about you!!!)
Lol... I'm not condemning others. Just condeming advertising in all its forms. I have no quarrel with Jesus. I just don't want his name shouted at me all the way to uni by some mysterious poster-putter-upperer. It reminds me of spam email. And having to see ads on every bus, bridge, telephone pole, phone booth etc wherever I go

Agreed about the irritatingness (the fundamentalists stuff it up for the rest of them)
But like Jon pointed out to me: A lot of people know about the whole "Dying for your sins" crap. There were three other guys who went through roughly the same deal (Miracles, preachingness, "Zomg I am the son of God!" and the inevitable crucification once the Romans/Powers took notice of them) and what resulted was a few Dozen Christian nations, and a bunch of movies to tell everyone exactly what happened to one guy named Jesus who had a better PR team...
....My point was: If you live in a predominantly christian country, people are generally going to know the basics of the main religion (When you travel, don't you look up on how not to offend the people who live there?)
(Apologies, numbers have been my week, and now I word very badly as a result XD)
It's true...most people in astreya probably have a basic plot outline... but what does Jesus dying for your sins mean? I've been a christian for my whole life and I still don't quite get what it means... It seems it takes some slightly odd (not necessarily wrong) thinking to follow the argument.
I know I was weird as a christian, but Jesus never quite seemed to be the important bit to me, and whether he was or wasn't the son of God seemed like a moot point...because why did it matter? Surely what he was saying was the interesting stuff...
Ah religion... What a brilliant thing to pontificate about.
*shrugs* I only really say that this is the case... well, mainly because of Mel Gibson and that torture fest that was his religious movie (Not to confuse it with John Travolta's religious movie of a different kind
( ... )
Heh heh, you should see the google adds that the mention of Jesus brought up! Mom/Dad situation: that sucks & hang on!!!!!!! I still have hideous memories from when my parents were breaking up -but- not -in the end; for a few years and puting me in the middle of it all, asking to deliver their emotional blackmail to one another. I horribly regret ever complying to those requests... but I guess teens do self-destructive things all the time... Excellent e-mail!! Hang on!!
