John nods, his nose brushing against Sherlock’s arm from the movement, and he closes his eyes around the feeling. Everything is drowsy and slightly callous, muddled in his mind and across the space between them (metaphorical and literal).

He can feel the energy draining from Sherlock’s body, slowly, sluggishly, draining and then sinking into the sheets. It provides extra warmth for them and John rests his head against Sherlock’s ribs, basking in it. He likes to be clever, really, he could almost drown in it, but the raw feeling he always gets when Sherlock praises him is more than enough to make up for the bitter nights of Sherlock’s moods.
