[Today Luke is out blowing his money shopping! He took a detour through the upper class shops, and the other townsfolk seem to be more or less ignoring his presence. Already he’s done a little shopping, buying some food and items he’ll think will be useful in the future. Luckily, this place wasn’t devoid of interesting puzzles, books, and games, so

[Break is at the hat shop too. Now that he's got his proper coat back, it's high time he paid this place a visit. What's the Mad Hatter without a hat, after all? Why, he'd just be flat out mad for no reason at all. He'd have to come up with some other excuse to be mad, and that sounded like an awful lot of effort.

Unfortunately he's here without his Seeing Eye Watanuki and he has no idea that the hat he's trying on is covered in hideous red stripes. He's found the peacock feathers at least, and is fingering them with a thoughtful frown. He turns to whoever that is rustling around on the lower shelves.]

Too gaudy, do you think?

[Luke has the top hat in hand, and removing his own hat he sits it on his head.]

It's uh...colorful, to say the least.

[Mello is considering shopping for clothes; he really doesn't have very many here. The styles of the clothing here may not exactly have been in his taste, but he supposes they aren't terrible; besides, he's got to wear them anyway in order to look inconspicuous. Especially since he's got plans to spy on a police officer.

He's not planning on spending very much time looking around the hat shop, but when he notices that Break is there-- and apparently trying on a hideously colourful hat-- along with some kid, he can't help but to stop and comment.]

I'm voting with the kid on that one. [He grimaces in something of disgust.] That hat is absolutely vile.

[Luke stifles a laugh, trying not to be rude. The hat was pretty silly-looking.]

Perhaps you should try something else.

Because these two need to talk without shit going on :D

[Probably on his way back from his own job, he'll pause as he notices Luke. There's a moment he debates what to do, before he moves over towards him.]

Out shopping?

[Oh it's the doctor! Considering how their first meeting went, and how he died right after their second meeting, this feels kind of awkward.]

Mhm...these shops sells all kinds of neat puzzles.

I see... [Jin glances at the window displays, before turning and smiling at Lucas faintly] You like puzzles, then? I seem to recall I met you the first time while you were out exploring. [And pretty much scolded him for being out there alone, but Jin was not going to mention that]

Oh yes! All kinds of puzzles! I'm quite an expert at solving them.

[Kanaya has just gone shopping too! In fact, she's headed back already, and she seems to be carrying a large basket on her back full of cloth and sewing supplies.]

Uhm, what I mean to say is Professor Hershel Layton, famous archeologist and puzzle-solver and number one gentleman! I'm his apprentice!

Really?! I love all sorts of puzzles! I bet the Professor would like to meet this friend of yours too!

Mhm, the Professor says that a gentleman never goes out in public without his hat!

[Deciding to leave the confines of the tenant house for the day, Alois just happens to be doing a little window shopping of his own. He debates going into a few of the shops to do nothing more than to inspect the merchandise up close-- and to completely rearrange it just to make more work for the employees. It's good sport.

Eying the small kid he gets another idea. The only time he spoke to Luke was over the device so he doesn't put the voice and the face together]

You like that hat?

[Alois came up beside Luke and spoke in a sing song voice]

Hmm? Oh yes! It reminded me of someone from home!

Then why don't you inspect it more closely.

[Alois asked handing the top hat to the boy. He offers the boy a kind smile before asking further questions.]

Who does it remind you of?

[And he does! He removes his own hat and tries on the top hat, grinning as he does.]

The Professor! He's a famous puzzle-solving archeologist, and I'm his apprentice! The Professor has a hat just like this one!
