Tasting the Possibilities
A response to a Poke the Dragon prompt by cobblestonepath:
“Miranda and Andy, cooking together.”

Rating: G

A/N: This is an AU event in my AU series, Life Is a Banquet. By which I mean, it doesn’t fit into LIAB as currently outlined (I may try to fit bits of it in later), but it does make use of its characters, Miranda Priestly ( Read more... )

Wonderful start. Can't wait to see how Andy reassures Miranda and avoids the freakouts.
Thanks for the read.

I'm not sure she's going to be reassuring Miranda as much as educating her ... and challenging her to move beyond her fears. That's what the muses have suggested thus far, anyway, but they are a capricious lot at times. In any case, check back Thursday for more.

Likey, likely! Opening a new 5th of Oban.

Oooh. I can almost taste the peat and heather. But if I did, the next installments would be a long time a'coming (grin).

For those who are curious about this product of my ancestral home in western Scotland -- Taste style: Medium. Quite malty and sweet opening, with a medium body and a generous dry finish. A hint of spiciness perhaps, and seashore on the nose. Food suggestion: Oban is simply lovely with chicken satay or even crystallised ginger.

Thanks for the feedback. Check in Thursday for Part 2.

It's great to see you back within this reality. Great setup, I love a good aperative, and I'm so curious what the main course will be.
Thanx for writing and sharing.

Just about as happy as I am to see you messing about with hurricanes, I imagine. Damn that needing to make a living thing. We'd be having sooooo much more fun if we could be doing this kind of writing full time. Glad you're enjoying this. Hope that continues to be the case (grin).

Don't you know it! Although I think the heat here is sapping my writing will tonight (even with central air when it's this hot, 102 degrees today; it's cooled down to 85 at 11pm!, it just sucks something out of my brain!)

Maybe that's why I was thinking you needed to do a simple, shaved tomato ice as a pallette cleanser, right after the meat and before the cheese course; sounds so damn good.

Oh and the juxtapositioning of old and new flavors - so much potential there. Damn, getting hungry! I was just contemplating the cheeses you could play off of one another; aged gouda, oooh or aged gruyere and...a really mild (and pricy) feta with watermelon finisher?

And no worries about the continuing to enjoy; that's a given. You had me at "aged balsamic". :)

LOL. "Aged balsamic," eh? Good to know. As for the tomato, I'll see what I can do. Maybe a tomato juice pairing?
