I have never done one of these... but now is the time to start, I think! This month marks my one-year anniversary of LJRPing, so now would be as good of a time as ever!
state of the rp: general
Right now I think i'm doing pretty alright! Last month was a bit of a drag for me for some reason, and I plan to pump it up to 11 this month. I've dropped the games that I'm just not active in anymore, and my current roster is full of muses and games that i'm comfortable with. I'm still considering apping some more characters in the future, but those are all tentative and I have no plans set in stone.SOMARIUMstate of the game
This has been my home game for awhile, and I definitely feel the most comfortable in it. Everyone there is so friendly, and I feel like it's versatile enough that I can bring almost any muse in and play them comfortably. Contrary to what other people think, I don't find it boring! For me, it has just the right balance of action in events and slice-of-life, along with the freedom to do a lot of player-plots. I won't be dropping here for awhile!
character: Mami Tomoe [
headtomagica ]
age: 15, turning 16 in-game in a couple of weeks.
series: Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica
time played: 8½ months! (03/15/2011)
muse strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■
Considering that I've played her for so long without feeling burnt out, I think Mami is definitely my strongest muse. Since her screen time in canon really isn't that long, it's always easy for me to canon review her to make sure i'm doing things right. Her voice comes easiest to me as well, and i'm still able to crank out tags fairly quickly after all these months.
cast strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ □
The Puella Magi cast has fluctuated a bit over the time that Mami has been at Somarium. When I first apped, we had a full cast. I was still unsure of how I played her at the time, so I was really grateful for that! Sadly, everyone dropped from the cast except for our Sayaka. That proved to be both a blessing and a curse; I couldn't hide behind my more experienced castmates anymore, but it gave me the push I needed to get the courage to start tagging out of my comfort zone. Looking back on it, i'm glad that I didn't shy away from the idea! I've also been able to shine a light on the contrast between the despaired Sayaka and the painfully oblivious Mami, and that's been oodles of fun.
Now that we have a Madoka back in our cast, i'm definitely looking forward to exploring that relationship as well. While I wouldn't mind more castmates, i'm very much content with how things are right now.
plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ ■ □
Usually I can find something for Mami to do with relative ease; since she's a magical girl with a helpful nature, she's always willing to lend a helping hand in a physical battle and be a support for someone who needs a person to talk to.
shipping potential: ■ ■ ■ □ □
LOOK OUT BOYS. BUSTY SINGLE TEENAGER IS LOOKING FOR A BOYFRAND.
Well, not really. With Mami being who she is, the thought of a boyfriend has never really crossed her mind. In her home world, she was always too busy fighting witches to go on dates or have a social life, so she;s no expert on that subject. Despite that, she's really settled down into Somarium and the thought has crossed her mind about the opposite sex. Hell, even I was on the fence about it until recently. As of now, I am totally open to her getting into a relationship. The only problem is that to do that ICly, she'd have to trust that guy pretty well.
likelihood of drop: □ □ □ □ □
NOPE.JPG. Sorry guys, she's here to stay.
development/final thoughts:
The simple facts that there are no witches and that Soul Gem darkening is frozen in Somarium have given Mami so much freedom to take a breather and relax. In her canon, she had to force herself to be mature because she just didn't have any time to grow up. She was an orphan who had a major responsibility thrust upon her, which meant that there was no time for fun, friends, or having any kind of time to just be a teenager and grow up naturally. Now that she's in a relatively peaceful scenario, she's been given a chance to finally take on life at her own pace. She's probably one of the only people in Somarium who would not leave if given the choice. After all, there wouldn't be much to return to.
character: Jade Harley [
riflekid ]
age: 13
series: Homestuck
time played: 7 months! (05/2011)
muse strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ □
Although not as strong as Mami, i'd consider Jade to be one of my strongest muses. Her voice doesn't take too much work to convert into tags.
cast strength: ■ ■ ■ □ □
As of late, Somarium's Homestuck cast has been slowly idiling out and dropping. While it isn't everything to have a cast, Jade is a pretty friend-oriented character. Her canonmates are the only ones who really get the whole Sburb situation, so not having them would be a bit of a bummer. The fact that she's just seeing them in person is also a big plus for her, so having them slowly disappear isn't too good. Despite that, she's made some secure friends that could help her if the cast does get smaller.
plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■
Like Mami, Jade is a person who would protect her friends at all costs. She has the capability to fight and can always bring a smile to a person's face with her constant optimisim, but at the same time won't take any shit from people who try to mess with or take advantage of her. She's probably the easiest to plot with out of my three Somarium muses.
shipping potential: ■ ■ □ □ □
Seeing as she's only 13, finding other characters out of the Homestuck cast that she can be shipped with is a little tough. On top of that, she has her little crush on Dave, so it's not likely that she would consider a real relationship with anybody at the moment.
likelihood of drop: ■ □ □ □ □
I'll admit, the thought has crossed my mind lately. But with the EOA5 showing some possible development, I don't think i'll be doing it just yet without a canon update.
development/final thoughts:
Even though she's not my strongest muse, I think Jade is my favourite character to play. She's peppy and bubbly with just a hint of sass, and I absolutely adore that. I'm hoping to canon update her to Dog Tier in the near future, so i'm hoping that Act 6 will show some promising development for her.
character: Meta Knight [
maskedchivalry ]
age: Hundreds of thousands of years old. He doesn't know, nor do I.
series: Kirby (gameverse)
time played: 3 months (08/2011)
muse strength: ■ ■ ■ □ □
Although i'm fairly confident with Meta Knight, there are times where the only tags sitting i my inbox are his. His voice is still fresh in my mind (and his canon is my favourite out of every canon I RP from), but his cocky personality and bluntly logical way of speaking, thinking and acting does stop me from tagging at my usual speed from time to time. I can crank something out after some time has passed, but he's probably the first muse I've had that has made me actually do my research and think. It's a big step from characters that I usually play, but I like it.
cast strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■
Even though it's just me and her,
pink_star_rider will always be my Kirby. I partially apped into the game with him to play with a Kirby, and I have no regrets in doing so. She's always open to doing horrible plots with me, and they always turn out a-ma-zing. I couldn't ask for anyone better!
The only way it could get better is if we got a King Dedede, but i'm personally content with how things are. Being able to explore the relationship between Kirby and Meta Knight alone is awesome.
plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ □ □
Usually, Meta Knight won't do things unless he'll get some kind of gain from it. Favors and the like will always be done well, but at a price. His personality also restricts some plotting, as most of the time he is unsociable and, to be frank, a little creepy.
However, when it comes to the safety and well-being on an innocent, he'll protect them with his life. That's the chivalry in him talking, and it's a code of honor that he would never abandon, even under torture. When it comes to dueling and the like, that's where the plotting can go into full force. He may not like useless challenges, but pester him enough and he'll be pleased as punch to kick your ass.
shipping potential: □ □ □ □ □
LMAO NOPE. Sorry ladies, but he really isn't interested. Crush on him all you like, but he'll have to respectfully decline.
likelihood of drop: ■ □ □ □ □
If Ukiby ever drops Kirby, the chances that i'll go with her with Meta Knight are fairly high. But as of right now, he isn't going anywhere. He's building some stable CR and constructing the Halberd, so he's pretty grounded there.
development/final thoughts:
Seeing as there are no (if not significantly less) cosmic horrors in Somarium, Meta Knight has taken this opportunity to train Kirby one-on-one. He's always observing the child (whether the latter knows or not), and their relationship as mentor and apprentice may be slowly inching toward that of a parent / guardian and their child. On an out-of-canon standpoint, he hasn't changed too much... yet. One of the reasons that Meta Knight is so reserved is that he's never had anyone that he trusts enough or has a high enough IQ to have an intelligent conversation with. As his "acquaintanceships" in Somarium are starting to deepen, he may just open up to somebody. Maybe.
ROUTE 29state of the game
Even though I consider Somarium to be my main game, Route is the game that I've technically been in the longest. I apped Konata Izumi from Lucky Star way back in December of last year, but dropped her a few months later in favor of the muse i'll be talking about below. Saying that this game is huge is an understatement in itself, and sometimes I find it a bit overwhelming. Despite all that, I can always find a way to shimmy my way in and have fun.
character: Feferi Peixes [
empresstobe ]
age: 6 solar sweeps! (AKA 13 human years)
series: Homestuck
time played: About 5 months.
muse strength: ■ ■ ■ □ □
Although I've gotten some really nice praise on her, I think that my Feferi voice is just okay. Jade's voice comes a lot easier as a Homestuck muse, and I think their similarities in personality are what help me play her at all. There are times where her tags just dwindle in my inbox (mostly because her typing quirk is craaaazy for text replies), but I can always muster up the ability to do them.
cast strength: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■
I am not even going to sugar coat or beat around the bush here; Route's Homestuck cast is absolutely amazing. They are just a rad bunch of people that play their characters incredibly well, and I feel honored to be a part of that. I wouldn't trade them for any other cast!
plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ □ □
Since Feferi is a pretty sociable troll, it isn't hard for her to strike up a conversation or make a new friend. The only problem is finding an opportunity to plot something, which is much harder than it sounds in a large game like Route. I'm trying my best to look for some openings, but it can be pretty difficult sometimes.
shipping potential: ■ □ □ □ □
Usually I would say that when a character is taken that they would be totally hands-off... but Feferi is a bit of an exception. She's not afraid to flirt back with someone who's obviously flirting with her, but at the end of the day she will stay faithful to Sollux. They are matesprits, after all!
likelihood of drop: ■ ■ □ □ □
I have considered it, but I personally doubt that it will happen any time soon.
development/final thoughts:
Though it doesn't seem like it, I think Feferi has gone through quite a bit of development in Route. She's found out exactly what Eridan did to her and Sollux before it happened to either of them, and isn't really sure how she should deal with it. She wants to think that there is some good in him, but can't shake the fact that she's looking at her future murderer. Along with her bubbly and excitable personality, I think that she's starting to look at things in a new perspective.
DISCEDOstate of the game
Discedo and I have had some history. I apped there back in... March? of 2011, dropped, and then came back with the same character. Granted, that drop was because of drama that was escalating, and I wanted to avoid it at all costs. I basically moved back in when I was sure that the coast was clear, and I am glad that I did! Disco is looking greater than ever, and I forgot how much I missed the CR I had with my character.
character: Sunako Kirishiki [
corpsedemons ]
age: Over 100 mentally, physically forever 13.
series: Shiki
time played: 5 months (03/2011 - 06/2011, 09/2011 - )
muse strength: ■ ■ ■ □ □
I have the same dillema with Sunako as I have with Meta Knight; sometimes she is just too smart for me. If she were as old as she looked, she would be considered a child genius. She tends to act innocent and oblivious most of the time to manipulate people, which is probably my saving grace when i'm playing her. I find it a bit tough to play with castmates in that sense, since she doesn't put up that facade with them. After I do some thinking though, tags do come relatively easy.
cast strength: ■ ■ ■ □ □
Right now, it's just her and Tatsumi in-game, but that's okay with me. I'm glad that it's Tatsumi and not any other character, as she'd be relatively defenseless in Discedo without him. It also helps to have him around to fuel the lies that she tells about her family and the life she had back home. The two get along well, even though their relationship is slightly dysfunctional .
plotting capabilities: ■ ■ ■ ■ □
With the "cute little girl" air that she puts on, a lot of people are drawn to Sunako, especially when they see that she's a lot smarter than she looks. Wen she gets her chip out, i'll be holding a semi-big plot for whoever wants to be a victim of her bloodthirsty attacks, so that in itself is a great plotting opportunity.
shipping potential: ■ ■ ■ □ □
She truly isn't interested in entering a relationship for love, but she is interested in entering a relationship to manipulate the other person. It's a trick that she learned from Tatsumi, and it's looking like she has her black eye-sockets set on either Eridan (Homestuck) or Jack (Gunnerkrigg Court).
likelihood of drop: ■ ■ □ □ □
Probably not. I did it once, but I think i'm here to stay this time.
development/final thoughts:
Though she's convinced herself that she's doing it for her own personal gain, I think that Sunako is secretly glad that she's made some friends that accept her. In a way, she's hesitant to tell them about her true nature... but she'll deny that she's feeling anything other than pity./TAKES A BREATH
