I tried to place this as a reply to a blog entry but they are having technical problems so I've whacked it in here. With a view that most of my readers are in fact not Canadian and this article is about a much broader issue, I've taken many of the specific references out ( Read more... )

I got here from orderinchaos. The upcoming election terrifies me. We're going to completely embarrass ourselves in front of Latin America!

This election both depresses and pisses me off. I feel like I have to do something, but I know not what - the eternal angst of someone who actually cares about their country and where it's going, unlike probably 90% of the masses out there. Thanks for your comment :)

BTW if I've understood Andy/OiC's map right, your area is quite safe Lib at the moment. I'm sort of crossing my fingers, toes and everything else that the NDP rather than the Conservatives gain out of the Liberals' crumbling, and that the Libs still manage to hold on in Greater Toronto.

Sadly, no. Jim Flaherty, formerly of Mike Harris' cabinet, dropped out provincially to run here, and has a huge following. Our Lib candidate is a conservative anyway - she's anti-abortion and voted against same-sex marriage.
