This is amazing, brilliant, and SO true. If you are an artist in any form: A writer, a painter, an actor... you should so listen to this.

Meh. I can't agree with her sentiment. I just can't.

I mean, I'm a creative type, in my own way; YouTube vids, a webcomic...maybe I'm more of an entertainer than an artist, but it's a bald fact and not hubris for me to say so.
...and I've never felt as she describes. Not really.

Oh, I've had conversations with an inner voice, I've felt inspiration seem to come out of nowhere...only I recognized that it came from me. It wasn't some external source, it wasn't a daemon. As a rabid-and-screaming rationalist, I can't in good conscience feel the way she's advocating.

...because it requires self-deception. I would be required to claim things I don't know, to feel things I don't feel. I don't empathize with her examples; I don't think I'm built to.

Have to admit, this is one of the rare TED Talks where I haven't finished watching it with a nodding head, going, "Yeah...yeah....!"

Yet...

In other words... she's talking about 'muses' :) I like that. And people always thought I was nutty that my art and writing is inspired by what my muses suggest.Thank you for posting that, hon! Really wonderful!
