Analysis welcome

Feb 22, 2007 20:26

I wonder if it's possible to dream in monochrome? My dreams are always grotesquely vivid in colour with smell, taste, sound, and pain (which is the worst part of my dream). People around me say it's unusual because they rarely remember what they dream, let alone see color or feel pain. I've always thought that was unusual since dreaming has always ( Read more... )

Wow...you have really creepy dreams O_O I always dream in color, but rarely are they this vivid and detailed.

This dream would be easier to analyze if I knew you in person, but I can try a few guesses. Do you feel isolated and different from your family somehow? That could explain why they looked so different from you (and what's more different from Japanese people than Western people? ^^;;). Do you live with your parents, or only with your grandmother? If not, maybe there's something about your own father that's bothering you? I've never heard you mention your parents, so I'm just guessing here.

As for the crazy bombing section...I have no idea there, that's just bizarre. Have you been discussing political issues in class or anything? Sometimes scenes like this can simply stem from things you were thinking about while awake.

Not a great analysis, but maybe it will help a little. It's nice to see you back on LJ! :D

Thank you for your analysis! :D Yep, I notice I never mention my family except grandma. But even with her I feel distant. I've always been distant with anyone but not sure if the dream represented my family because I'd usually know when it does...And the father part yes, I don't have a father and I've always had trouble welcoming a male. Maybe I still fear someone is going to try to become my father. As a kid that was my constant fear :(

I'm quite surprised by the bombing too ^^; Cuz I wasn't paying attention to the bombing or terrorism in news or anything... Weird. Explosion of fear?

Again thank you and I'm in love with your Geisha icon! Where did you get that?

Hehe actually that's me! ^_^ When I was in Kyoto with my friend we went to one of those studios where you dress up like a Maiko-san. The icon's from one of my favorite photos they took of me :D

If you're curious, here's the original LJ post:

Although I don't think I'm good at dream analyzing, I'll give it my best shot!

There are two aspects to this dream that I can see; fear and heroism.

I kind of see the fear of the insane father as fear of the things you know. Maybe the fact they are all blonde and you are not might mean you feel very different from the people around you who know you best, and maybe you fear their judgement.

Also, I kind of feel that this dream represents a fear of "being normal". Maybe "playing dead" was a way of avoiding what could happen.

I think you would look very cute in an army uniform XD

I will try again to analyze this when I come back from work :)

Heroism? how? I'd agree with the fear part, fear is what nightmares are all about... I do feel very different from others but at the same time I wonder if most people feel that way. What you said about the father representing things I know, I find it interesting because he revived the feelings I've already experienced with someone. There were people whom he reminded me of. Perhaps I fear they will come back again and controll my life? I don't know what you mean by fear of being normal though??

The most powerful symbol in the dream, I believe, is my eldest sister who was my soul mate from the beginning. She is reminiscent of my goddes I told you about.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Hey sweetling~! Good to see you back online. ^^

Your dreams have always intrigued me. This one I had to print out and read over and over...
There are a couple of things (symbols, if you will) that caught my interest:

Numbers
1 - One uncle / one father → could be 'two sides of one coin': good & evil?
3 - A total of three sisters
7 - Seven days of preparation for the fight
9 - Youngest sister’s age
10 - Mimi’s age
12 - Eldest sister/best friend’s age

Colours
Monochrome dream
Blonde sisters, father and uncle
Black hair (Mimi only)
Greyish-green army uniform
White capsule house & flowers
Wood-coloured family house

Weapons, etc
- Machine gun
- Pesticide
- Time bomb
- Gas mask

Keywords
Anxiety, death, father, fear, fighting, flowers, guns, happiness, house, man, sibling, uniform, violence, war
(above keywords appear in this dreamdic)
So far, for what it's worth. *sighs* Still trying to figure out what the handful of dreams I had a couple of months back mean - those have been simmering at the back of my brain waiting for answers for ( ... )

*Hugs* I miss you!! And I wait anxiously for your entries on the dreams you had. Thank you so much for reading and even printing out my nightmare (;u;) Reading the keywords inspired me to take the dream differently with other perspectives. >(^-^)<
...Did I tell you I had another very vivid nightmare in which I was saved by you?? I'm going to post it here soon, it will surely need your decoding XD

Miss you too~! *cuddles vehemently* I made notes on my peculiar, vivid dreams, so it should not be too hard to reconstruct them... just need the time (and peace). ^^;
Sort of felt like prying, printing your dream, making it part of my world of brainwaves, and writing down those elaborate lists of things I noticed... dreams and their possible meanings are sort of personal, so I have no idea what they really mean. =-,-;= But hey, I'm a sucker for symbols, and no matter how freaky, I am a big fan of your dreamworld. >^.~ You did not mention anything about that nightmare! Oo; Great to know I was able to save you that time... still feeling guilty and spooked about the crazed sex-fiend gothic chicks... T_T ( ... )

I just posted the dream I was talking about! :D :D
Though you didn't physically show up in the dream, it was your deed that rescued me from the nightmare. Thank you so much for that! *hugs*
Thank you, but no worries I'm healthy and doing fine :3
The thing is, I've always had nightmares since I was born, it seems. ^^;

I really enjoy hearing dreams, post them soon ! ;)
You know the lavender litte memo that you hand-made for me?
I carry it with me to take memo of my dreams. *Loves it*
