Ok, this really pisses me off, I was just told by Paul Ripley that I am not going to get into a good Grad school because I was forced to withdraw. That is Fucking great, is it true does anyone know???
If it's on record as a voluntary withdrawal, it doesn't make sense that it would hurt you. You could talk to a random admissions department and pose the question, they would know better than this Paul fellow.
I wouldn't trust Paul Ripley's advice on much of anything. Not to be mean or anything, but he seems to have opinions about an awful lot of things he knows next to nothing about.
As Jessica said, ask around. Also, the MOST important thing about any arch. grad school application is your portfolio. What you do IN school is much more important than why you may or may not have been out of school.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are a million paths people take to get to grad school, including dropping out, transfering, and withdrawing voluntarily or involuntarily...as long as you show dedication to your studies, that's what really counts.
