Pairing: Meryl/Liev
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: First Kiss
"Yeah, well what was yours like?”, he asked, taking a swig of his budlight. “Couldn’t have been worse than mine” he chuckled.
No, she thought, guess not. Because hers had been sweet. It had given her butterflies. She smirked at him across the intimate table in the dimly lit restaurant. “Well, it was in church”, she hesitantly admitted.
His beer went down the wrong pipe and he came up laughing and choking at the same time. “Meryl! I can’t believe you!”, he exclaimed. “I’m starting to see you aren’t half as innocent as you look”
Now it was her turn to fumble with her beer. A few drops drizzled down the top of her blouse as she laughed and his eyes automatically strayed south. “I look innocent?!”, she asked. “Puh-lease!”
His attention was still elsewhere. He watched a single drop she missed as she had wiped her shirt trickle down between her breasts and disappear. The sound of her clearing her throat roused him and his eyes snapped back to hers. She had a knowing look on her face that was making him quite uncomfortable so he went back to the subject at hand. “Okay, so tell me how it happened”
She smiled, remembering the day fondly. “Well, I was at the services on a Sunday morning and the boy I was going with had come with my family”, she started. He was already mesmerized by the sweet quality of her voice as she retold her past.
“And he took me back behind the pews into this little nook where no one could see us. And he reached up and took my glasses off and said “There. Now you look great.”, she chuckled. “Then he kissed me.”
He looked at her skeptically. “Are you making this up?”, he joked.
“No!”, she laughed. “I’ll tell you one thing though, I never put those glasses on again!”
Meryl watched him grin at her in amusement. She took another drink from her beer. “We should probably be going. We have to be at the set again early…too early”
“Yeah, you’re probably right”, he sighed, downing the rest of his bottle. “Walk you back?”
She stood from the table and slung her purse over her shoulder, stumbling slightly to the left.
“Yes. Apparently, I’m gonna need the help walking”, she said.
Liev threw down a fifty onto the table and slipped his arm around her back as they started walking out. “Come on, you lightweight”
She pouted at him. “It’s the beer. I don’t know why it gets me so drunk! If we’d have been drinking anything else I could have drank you under the table!”, she claimed.
They walked through the doors into the chilly night air.
“Oh, really?”, he challenged her. His hand was lightly squeezing the small of her back, keeping her on her toes. “I think I’d like to see that”
“No, you probably wouldn’t. I do crazy things when I drink” They took another step and the tip of her shoe caught on a raised piece of concrete, causing her to trip forward, but he was right there moving in front of her to prevent her fall. Their faces were inches apart when they stilled.
“Like what?”, he breathed. She starred into his eyes and made the decision. She leaned forward and smashed her lips against his, her drunkenness making it sloppy. But it ended as soon as it had started. She pulled back and smirked at him. “Like that”
She stepped out of his arms and continued walking down the street, the hotel they were staying at coming into view around the corner. Liev was frozen for a minute. He couldn’t believe she had just kissed him like that. Meryl Streep. It was crazy, but he had to admit that he had always had a bit of a crush on her when he was a teenager. Back in those days she had been, of course, an inspiration for his career and a temporary solution to his everlasting horniness. But you would have to kill him before he ever told a soul.
When he caught up with her they walked the rest of the way back in silence. He didn’t have a clue what the hell to say after that anyway.
At the elevator she pushed the button and they waited. The doors opened and they stepped into the empty cubicle. Meryl let out a yawn, stifling it with the palm of her hand. “Oh my god, I’m exhausted”, she muttered.
“Mmmm”, he agreed, his thoughts too preoccupied. He busied himself looking around in the small space, but there was nothing to look at but shiny walls reflecting himself, something he didn’t want to see right now. Finally, he just blurted it out. “That was some first kiss”
He meant it as a joke, and she knew this. She turned her head away and teased him. “I’ve had better”, she shrugged.
Liev scoffed. “Well, you didn’t give me much of a chance”, he suavely answered. It was silent for a few moments. The elevator pinged signaling they had reached their floor and the doors slid open.
She stepped out and went in the direction of her room, but he wasn’t following, afraid he had crossed the line. She turned back to him. “You’re not gonna walk me to my door?”, she flirted.
A smile broke out over his face and he joined her once more. They made their way through the vacant corridor and stopped in front of her suite. She looked at him expectantly. “Well, here’s your chance.”
He searched her face, sure that she was messing with him, but it held only seriousness and a bit of impatience and maybe one other thing….
She looked curious.
So, he leaned down to her mouth and gently pecked it. Then again, and again, and once more. Finally, his lips began sucking hers and his hands flew into her hair, keeping her head in place so he could kiss her properly.
Meryl’s arms instinctively flew around his neck. That was what you did when you were being kissed, right? Or was it just Liev? She didn’t care. She kissed back.
He took a step forward and smashed her body up against her door, constantly slanting his mouth over hers in different directions. This way and that. She tasted like heaven. He was getting carried away with this he was sure of it, but how was he going to stop when she was rubbing up against him like that and kissing him back so passionately?
“Mmmm”, she moaned into his mouth, waking him from his dream in more than one way. He pulled away and met her gaze before giving her once last chaste kiss on those perfect lips. Then he stepped back and she brought her hand to her chest that was rising and falling rapidly.
They stared at each other as they caught their breath. Meryl swallowed. “That was...better”, she stated blandly, the evidence of the effect of the kiss all over her face.
He licked his lips, remembering her taste. “Goodnight, Meryl”
She tried to make a face of indifference, but of course he knew. “Goodnight”, she replied, turning and letting herself in. When the door closed behind her she leaned against it, getting her bearings. Oh my God, she thought. And a smile broke out across her face, ear to ear.
