The Inuyama Clusterfuck

Also known as the Inuyama Hanabi Taikai (Fireworks Festival)

I figure I'll give you guys one last ridiculous and pretty much useless post before I likely disappear for a while to deal with Large Problems.

I went to Inuyama with Jeff, a Nanzan-tomo, to watch fireworks. We definitely left a little later than we had originally intended and ended up getting there just before they started. I've been to firework festivals before, and I know that they can get super crowded, but this was an entirely new experience of 'crowded places to be in'.

On top of that, it was so, so hot.

I tried to take pictures of the crowd, but it was dark and despite my efforts to convince them, the large mass of people were unwilling to stop what they were doing so I could take a photo of them. So it's blurry. Enjoy anyway.

This one's a little less blurry, but not as good a shot.

But I think you get the picture. And remember when I mentioned how hot it was? Take a gander at this.

There's just a nasty shimmering gleam of sweat covering my face, and at that point it wasn't even worth wiping down with the cloth I'd brought, because within 2 minutes I'd be in the same boat. My backpack, when we got onto the train to go home, was honestly damp from sitting against my back for the entire night. It was...gross, needless to say.

Also, the thing I'm holding? Yakiniku Onigiri. Basically, a rice ball wrapped in bacon. The perfect blend of Japan and America, in my opinion. Delcious? Hell yes.

So we got there late, but we managed to find a decent place to watch the fireworks, so that was good. We ate delicious food; I had the rice and bacon ball, plus five things of katsu on a stick (it was heavenly - I was definitely shiawase). And then, just before going home, we stopped and got shaved ice. I got melon flavor and it was the perfect end to a great day (despite the sweat, mind you).

This is a pic from the previous night when we went out to an izakaya for dinner.

Now, I'd like to share some random photos I took with my phone while out and about.

How awesome is this car? I want it.

One example of delightful Engrish, and I don't really know what to think of the second one. OTL

Lastly, delicious noms.

Which were photo-bombed by more delicious noms, courtesy of Zenia.

That's all I got.
