Another nice 'grey-line propagation' natter with Iceland on 5MHz. This is rapidly becoming my favourite band: no crazy contesters!

I'm tempted. I really need to get on HF somehow and I'm even considering the possibility of making something that will work! I've not touched a soldering iron since I was a kid, so this could be a disaster :D

The Elecraft kits are well-respected (but too riddled with 'digital' for my tastes).
Could also be worth looking at the Indian-designed "ATS-1" 14MHz SSB box, or some of the stuff from "Youkits" -
