One new development that I feel compelled to share

Jul 04, 2009 06:59

There have been a few new developments that I don't want to get into on here, but one nice thing that came up the other day was, we managed to make it to Ribfest. Heart was on the main stage, and Blue Oyster Cult was on the rock stage. So my son decided he wanted to see Blue Oyster Cult, and he and Eewie went there, stopping along the way to enter ( Read more... )

I remember wanting to go see them at Alpine Valley that year, too, but I couldn't afford the tickets, since I'd barely graduated and wasn't even working full time then. Unless I'm mistaken, though, Legolyas and Antwise both got roped into going up to see them :::whip:::, and I'm pretty sure Antwise even shelled out for pavillion seats that turned out to be like unimaginably crappy. And I seem to remember them ending up in a big fight about it and almost breaking up over it. Hopefully he'll come on and share his side of it sometime soon ( ... )

I remember that Golumette and I plotted out between us to get them both to take us, totally unaware at the time that they even knew each other. Believe it or not, even though both of them made it to a lot of our games and practices, they'd never once both shown up together, by that point. And she made Legolyas promise to take her, which he didn't seem to mind too much, since he basically liked them anyways. Antwise, though, didn't even care for them, and seemed reluctant to spend the money to take me. So I gave him the cold shoulder for close to a week, then he actually sprung for pavillion seats, LOL. Gosh, now I almost miss the good old days of such petty young adult head games and power plays just to get a guy to prove you're more than just a baseball buddy to him ( ... )

Even though I had no idea it was Antwise that you were going out with at the time, since you and Golumette were good friends then, you naturally gossipped like a couple of old hens about us. So once she found out from him that he spent the money to get you supposedly decent pavillion seats, there was like no living with her. She was thrilled when she found out, I suspect it just about had to be from you, that she was getting to go at all. Even though it was just lawn seats. But once she found out you guys had pavillion seats, I came off looking like a cheap mofo, LOL. Which was how her brain usually worked on things like that. And even though it seriously went against my grain to pay that much to see a band she wasn't even that that into, compared to a few other big name acts at the time, I did actually try to exchange them for better seats, but I found out no can do, nor could I get a refund and just try again from scratch. So she bitched and moaned like endlessly about our lowly lawn seats, and made all kinds of little digs about ( ... )

Wow, what a bizarro twist justplaintam July 13 2009, 23:33:51 UTC
Allison and I also went to that concert, but it was shortly before we met any of you, for the most part. I mean, Mixter and I went to school together, although we weren't more than casual friends back then, and if anyone had told us back then that we'd end up married, we'd have both sworn that they were nuts, LOL. And even though you and Allison more or less knew each other before that, I don't think you were anything more than casual friends, either.

So it's really kind of strange when you stop and think that unless I miss my guess, it was almost exactly a week later when Allison and I really connected with you, and shortly after that, we met the rest of the fellowship and ended up coming to work with all of you.

It's a shame your pics came out blurry, but heck, if some stranger decided to snap pics of me at this late date, my best hope would be that they'd come out blurry, LOL. Clear focus has a nasty way of accentuating all those things we work so hard to get rid of at our age. :-D
