Oh, I fear the worst. This is so very obviously schlock. Poor Christopher Cazenove, he must need the dosh.

Yeah. I mean, I wasn't too happy with Stone's movie but at least it was an honest attempt, even though it didn't work for me. But at least you could see the real effort put into it, which I respect a lot.
But this.... I mean, hello?
Sigh. I hope one day they'll film Renault's books.

Oh, good grief. [facepalm] Yeah, the "modern teenage Alexander" just isn't working for me, for some strange reason. :P

It seems a mix between Xeena and Hercules, even worse than those TV movies. Bah.
Alexandros a "modern teenager". Interesting. No one seems to understand that those people had NOTHING in common with us.
Anyway. I don't need a movie from Renault's trilogy btw. There we have a "modern teenager", here we have a modern love-triangle. Not better. I would like a true historical movie.

Oh, I was thinking more of "Fire from Heaven" than of the "Persian Boy". I like that book a lot, and if they're doing a movie of young Alexander than they should try for something like it - something where you can get a glimpse at how it might have been back then. Maybe "Fire from Heaven" doesn't portray the real life, we can't know for sure, but at least it's definitely not modern. Even Stone seems to have borrowed from the book ;)
Ah well. Too much to hope for.

Yes, "Fire from heaven" is a nice book (far better than TPB, historically speaking), but imo Renault is too in love with her characters, especially Alexander, she portraits them in an idealistic way. But it's just a personal opinion.
Unfortunately,it seems thas Stone took worst from TPB :P
