So, it looks like another round of Shadowplay nights has started up at The Speakeasy.... Night #2 will actually be a Summer Solstice event, held on Thursday June 21st. I suppose it will depend on how it does in this new Thursday night spot, as to whether it will continue as a long-term thing in this venue. As it's keeping the same Shadowplay name/

Malice Mizer has some neat stuff -- I've still only heard bits of it myself, but it's hard to imagine that their stuff was Top 40 material over in Japan! (This song was from the 3rd lineup of the group though, featuring a guy named Klaha as lead vocalist. I think that they peaked in popularity with the Gackt-fronted 2nd lineup, and then went a bit darker for this version of the band.) There have been a number of spinoffs since they broke up, including some along more darkwave-industrial lines -- but most of them don't seem to be into making music videos, unfortunately.

Actually, I think that it's become something similar to a production company name at this point -- like a "Shadowplay Productions presents...." kind of thing, which basically signifies who is putting on the event. (I suppose that sort of brand-name recognition only works for the existing crowd of followers; but, that's mainly the crowd it's going for anyway, it seems.)

That's why we have to keep those little quotation marks handy when we're talking about the 'goth' scene these days!! Although, it's not only Halifax that's got a problem in that regard, I'm sure....!
