A very nice virtual collection! Well worth a browse.

I take it that information about each of works will be gathered wiki-style?

I'm a little discomfited that the artist bio page is in order of first name, rather than surname. I'm pretty sure you'll find that many of the people primarily interested in the project will view it the same way...

Either way, love love LOVE the implementation of tags in this project (and in any for that matter).

I has guessed it was you, only a librarian would notify me of the artist names gaff :)

Unfortunately we're having to store the whole artist name in a single field since we're using it as a 'taxonomy' and as such can't really split it up.

Why not have an undisplayed field in your db with "proper" alphabetical format to direct the screen ordering and retain the current format for display and taxonomic purposes?
