tell me darling, where do we begin

I'm sitting right now in my hotel room in Hawaii listening to Anberlin at the moment. Life is pretty amazing right now. Let's recap everything that I've been through up to this point:

Friday

Westfall and I flew into Seattle, leaving Columbus at about 6 PM or so. I had a mandatory lab for CS&E that I had to take care of; otherwise I would have gone earlier (probably on Thursday night). We got into Seattle at about 10:45 PM, and my brother Kyle ended up picking us up from the airport. We ate some burgers at Dick's (Seattle-only chain?), which is always good. My brother then dropped me off at Amber's place after eating. It was a pretty low-key night for the most part. We ended up drinking a little bit, playing Yoshi's Island with her roommate Lola, and going to sleep.

Saturday

We woke up at about 10 AM, showered, and Amber took me to see Up in 3-D at a local movie theatre with her friend John. I was a little hesitant to see the movie, as, assuming you know me well, you should know that I pretty much do not like movies. Needless to say, I was thoroughly entertained watching this movie throughout every scene. Between the touching moments, the absolutely hilarious dog, and everything else, I was not displeased at all. After the movie, we went to eat at a sandwich store, where we (unexpectedly) met up with some of her friends. We went back to her place afterward to get some stuff and get ready to go out again. We went to the Pike Place Festival that was going on that weekend. It was nothing special, but Amber made it worthwhile, of course. She bought a ton of fruit from the festival, including rainier cherries which might be the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. I looked for a place that I ate clam chowder at when I came to Seattle with my family, but alas, it was closed. At 4 PM. Yeah, I have no idea either.

We took the fruit to a local park where we met up with a few other people and had sort of a picnic. The park was absolutely beautiful. Aside from the random people smoking pot, a person was playing his guitar and singing pretty well, other people were playing frisbee and bocce ball, and there seemed to be sort of a circus going on in the park, with people juggling and hula hoops everywhere. I don't know what that was all about, but it was interesting to watch. We went to eat at a place called In The Bowl, which was a vegetarian noodle place. I haven't been disappointed by anything vegan that I have eaten yet. This place was especially amazing and tasty. I enjoyed it a lot. Places like that make me think about being vegan. It's a very healthy lifestyle (that place had a lot of sodium, to be fair), and nothing (yet) tastes badly. Something to think about, at least.

We headed back to her place and drank for a little bit. I ended up whooping her roommate's ass in some Amplitude, even though it was my first time playing it. And by whooping her ass, I mean I beat her once out of like fifteen tries. But you're not supposed to know that part.

Sunday

Amber and I woke up around 11 AM and headed off to play ITG, where we met up with another person named Kevin. I played my first set with him and he picked Bloodrush 3rd stage, so that really wasn't a good start to my day, haha. I AAA'ed Drifting Away on Max2, which was pretty sweet. I also got some pretty good scores on ITG, like 2 on Soapy Bubble (sorry Amber! =P) and 7 on Clockwork Genesis. Nothing too crazy, as I was getting hot as balls in that place. We left and got cleaned up. We went to Chipotle, which, of course, was amazing, and rented Wall-E (two movies in one weekend? . . . anarchy). Needless to say, two movies did not happen, as I was completely dead tired and could not stay awake. ITG + Chipotle is not a good combination if you are planning on staying awake, for your information. We ended up napping for a good amount of time, and before I knew it, it was night time. I had to say my good byes to Amber, and my brother picked me up from her place. We went straight to sleep, as Hawaii was so early in the morning.

Monday

We woke up at 5 AM to get everything ready to go to the airport. Trida ended up taking us there, as Kyle was starting his first day on his job. We got there at about 5:50 AM, and our flight left at 7:10 AM. So we got there with plenty of time to spare . . . or so we thought. I had to check my bag because of how large it is. The line for that was about 15-20 minutes, but I didn't think much of it. I got my boarding passes and was ready to go. The security line for the United gates was absolutely insane. It took around 20 minutes to get to the person that checks your ID and boarding pass, so time was ticking away. Westfall got in a very short line for the checking of your bags through the x-rays. I was about to get in his line when a worker told me to get in another line. I figure he does this out of courtesy, as a lane may have just opened up or a line just did not have a lot of people in it . . . boy was I wrong. This line had about four times the number of people than literally any other line, and I am not kidding about that. I had to wait for about 50 people to go through before I was able to pass my bags through security. The time was 6:50 at this point, so we were getting crushed on time. We hurried through the transit to our gate, and we got to our gate at 7:03 AM. Boarding had ceased, and the plane had left. Just great.

Luckily, for us, the person in charge of rescheduling these flights and whatnot was an extremely nice person. He took care of getting us on another flight and everything worked out. He got us on a direct flight to Honolulu, so we would get there three and a half hours earlier than we normally would have. Added to the fact that our other friend Brian Six (as well as a large number of Magic players) was going to be on this flight, this seemed like the perfect rescheduling! There were no flaws in this at all . . . until I remembered I had checked my bag on the other airplane. Ugh. We got into Hawaii at around noon and headed back to our hotel. Luckily for me, another one of our friends was arriving around 5:30 PM into Hawaii, so he could pick up the bag for me. I left him a text and was pretty content about getting my bag later. We went to the beach, where Westfall, Steve Glaeser, and Six swam as I laid out in the sun, as I did not have my swimming trunks. We walked around the beach for a little while, and I got a phone call from my friend at about 6 PM. He tells me that his phone was dead and that he just got to his hotel. This was very frustrating. I cannot seem to get this bag at all!

I call up a representative from United Airlines to ask them if they could deliver my bags. She said it was ok for them to do, so I was pretty excited about that. She then called me back saying that they were not allowed to deliver it because United was not the last airline that I went through (the last flight was on Hawaiian Airlines). Awesome. Hawaiian Airlines was closed, so I had to wait until tomorrow to call them. In the meantime, I had an amazing seafood buffet and ended up going to sleep very early.

More to update later, but I'm pretty tired, so I'm hitting the sack. Hawaii to come. Night.
