Hmm. Sounds like we had similarly introspective weekends, even if the wedding we had to go to was last weekend and yours this weekend. Still-I know the feeling. It's always kind of a shock when someone who hasn't had anything to say to you in a very long time suddenly has the unbearable need to speak to you again RIGHT NOW.

As for the gift issue-I share your WTF sentiment. I would have thought that being an "official married couple" would mean that you two WOULDN'T be expected to give quite so much, since you're both in school, living together and sharing expenses, and trying to make it on your own as an ::ahem:: "official married couple" (picture that complete with finger "quote" motions) and all. Seriously. Gift those you care to and can afford to gift, and everyone else gets a phone call on Christmas day. ^_~
