I love that a former Republican US Senator here in RI called Palin a "cocky whacko". Gotta love politics:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Former U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee is weighing in on Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and his comments are less than kind.
During an interview with Steven Clemons from the New America Foundation, Chafee called the Governor of Alaska a "cocky whacko." He also said her "agressive, belligerent" approach is wrong for foreign policy.
During his comments, Chafee said Sen. John McCain's selection of Palin may have energized the wrong base. He said shortly after the pick was announced, he received calls and emails from people who told him they were donating to the Obama campaign.
Chafee was appointed to the United States Senate in 1999 upon the death of his father, Senator John Chafee, and in 2000 was elected to a full six-year term.
After defeating Stephen Laffey in a hotly contested Republican primary in 2006, Chafee lost his re-election bid to Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.
In the summer of 2007, Chafee left the Republican party and became and independent.
