A RESPONSE:

right well here's the thing: that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

1. reflections is funded almost entirely by the laker club. we accept donations when we pass out the magazine, and we sell these tacky laker christmas tree ornaments mr. mcneal has. it has always been a goal to be ad-free, so i'm not responsible for calling businesses. reflections doesnt do that, for some reason. reflections is lucky to be given money and it's really nice of the asb to help.

2. the money goes to next year's reflections, so i don't "profit" from it, if that's what's bothering you. and if it did go to this year's magazine, i, me personally, still wouldn't profit from it, because reflections isn't about me, it's about the student body.

3. money from DVD sales goes to reflections. no one is being forced to buy a dvd. the purpose of the dvd is to give students a collection of all the films, cause that's a cool thing to have. the dvd is not being made for reflections.

4. take this up with mr. mcneal, not me. he approved it. i didn't know it was happening until the forms were made.

5. if you were editor and the asb gave reflections money, it would be conflict of interest still, cause your friend is on asb. just because you hate me, it's conflict of interest. and conflict of interest applies to journalism. i don't think there is an ethical issue present when the asb raises money for the literary magazine, even if an asb member and a magazine editor are dating. who the fuck cares?

6. maybe you should talk to ms. leben about the evils of people's parents advertising in lake views? but i think she'll tell you that hey, maybe it's unprofessional, but it's a high school publication and any money people want to contribute is welcome and much-needed.

7. WHY DO YOU CARE????

let's hope that's the last time i acknowledge such a statement. i can't believe i just participated in a livejournal fight.
i apologize if you feel like i invaded your space. consider the friends only feature next time. when you write shit about me, the people i love, and the institutions/publications i am affiliated with, i have a right to read it.
