one of the companies in the “school specialty family” is “red ribbon preparation” or something like that---they sell stuff for the “war on drugs” that i need to pick in bulk

It's funny, Red Ribbon Week is a HUGE deal in schools down here, and drug trafficking in the Valley still occurs at a horrifying rate. It's so hypocritical, really.
Our slogans are awful, too. Last year with the election it was "Elect to Be Drug Free" and we had days like Sock Day and Sun Shades Day with themes like "Sock it to drugs" and "Shade out drugs." The worst, though, was Hat Day. The slogan? "Hats Off to Drugs." I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or bang my head against the wall.
I think people keep looking for easy answers to complex problems and end up creating more problems (or shelling out the money and not functionally making any difference but feelign like they do)
