1st Doctor's Appt....

Sep 26, 2007 13:44

So my first appt was yesterday and I was a bit disappointed.  I'm sure every doctor's office does this differently though.  I met with the prenatal nurse and she went through everything I can/cannot do, eat, exercise, etc.  It was very informational and I'm glad Dustin went cause he could hear and learn all the "rules" of the game ( Read more... )

Oh I know EXACTLY how you feel. I don't have a doctor's appointment until Oct. 12th and they told me that it will just be like a "well woman's visit" and then at 12 weeks I will get to hear the heart beat. I am so nervous something is wrong and I won't know about it, but I guess the main point is that they can't tell much at 8 weeks anyway and we would know if there was something to be concerned about. Doesn't make it much easier though, does it?
I will definitely be thinking about you guys!

I'm so glad we can go through this together! It's good to have someone know exactly how you feel and that you're not completely crazy. My next appt is on Oct 9th so I am counting down the days.

I'm thinking of you and your little one too! :)

Yeah I think so too. And I think my insurance sucks when it comes to this stuff. They said that the only ultrasound that they will cover is the 20 week one. That sucks but oh well, I guess. Oh yeah, congrats on your little boy!! :)

my first appt was like that. I never got any ultrasound until I was 20 weeks, and it was the only one I ever had. I know that it is tough, and I hope that you can get through it. Hang in there, it does go by quick!

Yeah I have a feeling that mine will be that way too. How did you handle only having one ultrasound? I guess hearing the heartbeat will help alot. Hopefully it will go by quickly.

I think what you described is actually really normal. I had a full internal at my first exam (around 8 weeks) for my fun Pap and all and the midwife talked about everything and gave me pamphlets and reading material and went over my options for testing but my office doesn't do u/s every time you have an appt either. She did listen for a heartbeat with the Doppler but we couldn't hear anything yet and she told me not to worry about that because it is often to early to hear. I only had one u/s so far and that was for a First Trimester Screening for Down's Syndrome and other chromosomal diseases. The only other u/s I can expect is the BIG one between 18-20 weeks when they check all the anatomy and can tell you gender if you want ( ... )
