We overdrew the checking acct for the third time this month. Granted, I forgot to drop a few checks off at the bank, but they're small. Not thousand dollar checks. We're officially broke, and I just got the vet bill in the mail from last month's 'let's lame ourselves' party. Plus two trims. I will just wait until after my pay day to show Kent that ( Read more... )

I hear ya on the happy-but-broke thing. Either I have a plethora of money and no time to enjoy it (plus endless stress) or a plethora of time (and contentment) but no extra dough. There has to be a balancing point somewhere, and I know other folks who are searching for that elusive perfection as well... But we are in our way, eh? It will happen, just takes time to bring it all around.

Hang in there!

The idea of having all of our debt paid off in a year is incredible! I wish we had that option. :)

Boo about the non-disclosure agreements! (What I mean is, boo for us!)

I'm with you - I don't know how anyone affords kids. I read those "ways to save money" articles obsessively, but I'm already DOING all those things! I think a lot of people must live on credit.

Ugh, I'm so with you on the happy-but-poor thing. It's been a really great summer but the expenses just. keep. coming. And why do vet bills always come at such inopportune times?

Ugh, I hope you have OD protection- those fees get ridiculous fast.
Also on the taxes- read a book about how basically the only way people ever get wealthy is by having businesses and basically using the business to buy stuff, because the businesses only get taxed on their profits. I'm sure since it was written some of those "business expenses" and loopholes have been closed up, but I expect there is something to it. Frankly spending a quarter or more of my income for programs I don't support has always really irritated me- medicaid is not the worst thing, but some of the disability, and laws/law enforcement for things I think are stupid, and other programs and agendas- like the war in Iraq, the bailouts for the banks and GM- just infuriating.
