***“Umma ppalli gaja!” I grinned.***
After getting the camera, umma suggested that we go for lunch in one of the celebrity chefs’ restaurant nearby.
“Jinki-ah, I’ll bring you to my friend’s restaurant for lunch, I’m sure you’ll love their food,” umma grinned at me.
“Ye umma, I’ll love whatever you say is nice, but it would be best that they have chicken for me too,” I smiled and my mum was happily laughing her ass off because of my “chicken” liking.
“Aigooya, I’ll see what I can do there to make them get chicken for you, ahaha, my son’s crazy about chicken eh?” she laughed as she ruffled my hair. I love it whenever she ruffles my hair, despite my age. It’s a thing that only my umma can do to me.
When we arrived at the said restaurant, I was not convinced that this was the restaurant we’re supposed to have lunch in. Why? Because I was standing right in front of an arts museum. Who would ever think of dining or even have a cup of coffee there? As we entered, my right index finger just couldn’t stop itself from snapping pictures of the place, it’s definitely worth to keep sake in my memory book for umma.
Now I understand why umma loves to dine here whenever she had an appointment. When we stepped in, there were tonnes of exhibits around the museum and there was the restaurant hidden on the third storey of the museum.
A restaurant inside of a contemporary arts museum? I’m sure umma’s friend is a genius for coming up with such a concept. Just like the museum, the restaurant’s decorated with art pieces. I love this place!!!
When we got seated a waitress came over to take our order and since my umma had been a regular customer over there, she recommended us the special menu that they had for the day. Well, how could we resist good food, right? But sadly, no chicken ㅠㅠ
After moments of waiting, our food is here! I nearly burnt my mouth with the piping hot melted from the pizza if not for my umma to stop me. But the food looked too appealing for me to not dive into its goodness right away after it’s served. The taste was awesome, the presentation of the food was awesome and the entire ambiance we got in the restaurant makes everything even more awesome! AWESOME!!
“The chef must be a genius!” I exclaimed while devouring my slice of pizza.
“Of course my dear, he’s the best in the country, want to meet him?” my umma giggled.
“Sure!” I nodded with excitement, I’m going to see the genius who created all these delicacies that filled my tummy!
Minutes later, the celebrity chef and a teenage boy appeared at our table. But both my mum and I were surprised by the fact that all the delicacies that we’ve had wasn’t made by him.
“Annyeong Joomi-ah, how did you find the food?” the celebrity chef, Brian asked. (umma’s name is Joomi ^^)
“Ah annyeong Brian! Everything was great, your cooking taste really good, it’s really special,” my mum replied.
“That’s great to hear, but the food that both of you had tasted wasn’t made by me,” Chef Brian bowed.
“Eh?! Then who was it? Aren’t you the only chef who’s allowed to cook the dishes here?” my mum exhaled in shock.
“Well, it gets a little out of hand sometimes, so I got myself some help,” Chef Brain paused and told the boy next to him to greet us.
“Annyeonghaseyo, Key-imnida. Nice to meet you,” he smirked smiled to my mum and me.
“He’s my ace apprentice, I’ve been training him for the past few years because he’s my nephew,” Chef Brian continued and laughed.
My eyes were opened so wide that I think my eyeballs nearly rolled out of my eye sockets. He looks god damn familiar!!!
“Wow, Brian! I didn’t know you had such a beautiful nephew, he’s so much different from you,” my mum observed Key up and down before laughing out loud at Chef Brian who’s all macho and husky.
“Yes I know, I get that too much ever since I let him in. So everything’s fine right? And you must be Jinki, you’re mum always mentioned about you whenever we met,” he said as he turned to me, extending his hand out for a shake.
“O-Oh! Yes, I’m Jinki, nice to meet you Chef Brian,” I took his hand and bowed.
“How did you find the special menu today? Uncle made me to come up with it, saying that it was a test to see my demand,” Key asked my mum politely and pouted a little after mentioning Chef Brian.
“Your special menu has no problem at all, everything matched really well, and you definitely have talent. Brian wouldn’t have to worry about you,” umma complimented him.
“Thank you so much eomeoni,” he bowed. “So~ Uncle, you won’t have to give me tests anymore,” he joked and winked at Chef Brian who was crossing him arms and making faces.
Wow, this guy sure is confident and he looks so attractive at the same time. I thought to myself but was shocked when the said boy Key, turned to me with a wink.
It was time to go after we met them and had our desserts together, “Jinki-ah, remember to come with your mum more often in the future alright? Don’t let her be the alone too much, she’ll just nag at me whenever she’s alone.” Chef Brian said while he padded my shoulder.
Then came a whisper, “It’s not like he had much time left to do that.”
I turned to Key who was next to my mum, smiling beautifully while he chatted with my mum animatedly. I am certain that the whisper came from him.
When I turned my attention back to Chef Brian, “Like my nephew huh?” he wiggled his eyebrow.
“Eh!?” my eyes widened to what he asked and he went on, “Aigoo, don’t worry. I understand how this thing goes. Besides you’re not the only one who fell for my nephew,” he laughed while nudging me with his elbow.
Geez, I didn’t know celebrity chefs could joke like him. But am I?
“Hey Brian! Rest assure that my son and I would be back for our meals often, I’ll make it twice a day, so make sure you have enough to feed us! Remember to get chicken for Jinki too!” my mum fake punched Chef Brian on his arm while I blushed to the chicken comment she made.
“Alright alright, the both of you are welcomed no matter when is it and rest assure, chicken is going to be added on your next menu,” Chef Brian gave my mum and I a hug and when it was Key’s turn to hug us goodbye, Chef Brian was at it again, teasing me with his thick eyebrows.
“Come back soon, Jinki-ah, I’m sure we’ll have fun,” Key snickered right next to my ear that made me felt fuzzy and weird all over.
“Y-ye, see you around then,” I blushed before umma dragged me out of the museum without me hearing the low “You betcha’ gonna see me around.”
