a/n: sorry for literally dying on my fic for the past I don’t know, months? But one thing for sure, I’m back now and I have something bad to announce to those who reads this fic, its gonna end soon…like…as soon as I can end it…but I would have something new coming up, hopefully I would be more responsible in not leaving everyone hanging for months like this one *bows apologetic*

I wrote this chapter backwards and I got stuck after the end because I didn’t know how to start again! but it’s a great way of unblocking the writer’s block I had. So it might not link all that well, choppy and stuff and I think I ended it angst again…ah molla =_=”

inspired by various stuff: River Styx, Cerberus and This! (highly commended for you to see all these 3 before reading or after, anything you would prefer so that you would get to know how they looked and feels like)

lastly, I’m not gonna save any spots anymore, just because I am such a fail in updating my fic and I feel bad for saving spots when I can’t even fulfil the basic of updating the fic when my readers are waiting for it. so save your own spots people! (p.s. so gonna get killed by umma and dongsaeng for this (>_<”)
so pardon me for my mistakes and enjoy~ comments are ♥

The sun was high up in the sky shining down brightly when they finally arrived at the beach.

“Wah~~~~ Sun~~~ Sea~~~ Wind~~~” Jinki said as he spun in circles and inhaled the sea breeze the very moment he set foot on the sandy beach.

He was so immersed in the joy of being at the beach that the laughter coming from behind him nearly went unnoticed, nearly.

“Aigoo, he’s such a kid,” Taemin chuckled and everyone else followed suit, leaving Jinki in a daze before realising that it was him that they were laughing at and turning beet red on his cheeks.

Before he get himself caught in anymore embarrassment, Jinki ran to his umma and offered to help lay the beach towels out and set up the beach umbrella so that everyone could sit under the shade and get some protection from the glaring sun. But sadly nothing good whenever Jinki comes in contact with objects that requires setting up.

Great thing no one was under the umbrella after Jinki ‘set’ it up, because it ended up toppling and slamming shut, sending sand all over Jinki and the beach towels which were lying haphazardly on the ground below.

“Aish! Jinki are you alright?” Key ran over to his side within seconds, checking and pulling up Jinki’s shirt to see if he got himself injured in any ways.

“Yah! Why would he hurt himself there?! You pervert!” Jonghyun rushed over to smack Key’s hands off Jinki before death could go any further in exploring Jinki’s lean body in the name of ‘checking’ for injuries.

Jinki didn’t get himself too involved in the argument demon and death had, apparently the poor guy was sulking at how his life is so miserable, why is he such a failure in doing anything outside of studying? He let out a sigh which was so loud that caused some passersby to turn and stare at him with raised brows.

Minho came by to rescue Jinki from the bickering pair and sat him down on one of the beach towels while he set up the umbrella and made sure that it was locked in place before settling down next to the sulking boy.

“Why are you always thinking about the bad when there are things that you are obviously good at?” Minho prompted gently while staring at the clashing waves that were hitting the coastline.

“…Because I am really a dummy in life, I wish somebody would get me the book ‘Life for Dummies’. I’m certain that even people who are considered dummies aren’t as fail as me,” Jinki replied with an obvious pout plastered on his face.

“Well, think of it this way, if you’ve read that book, do you think you would follow every single step they say to make your life better? Then wouldn’t your life be exactly the same as some other people who leads their life like how the book states?”

“You have a loving mother, friends around you who laugh at you and laughs with you and most of all, you’re not dumb, you’re very intelligent. Just that your intelligence doesn’t involve the part about coordination,” Minho finished and gave the human a genuine smile, one that he had never gave his ‘preys’.

Jinki was speechless after hearing what the taller boy said, but nevertheless, he nodded to whatever he said, because really, the way the boy smiles got him. In a good way though. When Minho offered a hand to pull him up to join the rest who were starting to snack, he took his hand without second thoughts and allowed the taller boy to take the lead.

After take a short break from food, the boys decided that it’s time for some games while Jinki’s umma would stay under the beach umbrella to read her book and observe the boys from far, because games are not really her forte.

They were to piggyback each other and race from one end of the beach to the other where Key’s standing, probably within 200m, because Key was too lazy to walk any further down under the scorching sun, complaining how the UV rays are already damaging his skin. Immediately after Key took his place at the other end of the beach with his towel wrapping around his head making him  resemble a mummy with only his head wrapped, Jonghyun grabbed Taemin and forced the latter to be his partner for the race because he seems like the lightest among all of them.

“Hyung! Why can’t I team with Jinki?! I don’t want to team up with you,” Taemin pouted as he tried to grab Jinki for help, but Jonghyun’s strong arms circled around his waist made it impossible for him to even touch Jinki a tinny bit.

“Andwae! If you want to win you would have to team up with me! Who knows what that crazy mummy over there would come up with as the forfeit this time!” the shorter one shuddered as he remember the last time he had to do one of Key’s forfeit because he lose in a game of poker, he nearly bid farewell to his limbs because he had to play fetch with Cerberus and apparently, he wasn’t able to fast enough to make the three-headed hell keeper and it started dragging him along the River Styx like a bloody broken ragdoll. That dog is evil, and so is Key.

Minho already had Jinki on his back before Taemin could go on to protest further, all the boy could do was pout big time and shot a glare to Minho for being sneaky while grumbling something about life being unfair.
“Life’s never fair, besides, we don’t really have a life,” it came out as a whisper which Jinki was too concentrated in gripping Minho’s collar to prevent himself from slipping down from the taller boy’s back to even notice.

“Guys, on the count of 3!” shouted Key.

“Ye!” the other four shouted in unison.

“…3!” Key yelled as he swung his arms downwards.

Minho and Jinki were caught off guard by Key’s count while Jonghyun already took off with Taemin who was shaking and shouting on his back to make him go faster.

When Minho realised that they were lagging behind the angel and demon pair, he gripped onto Jinki’s legs harder making sure the human wouldn’t fall off from his back as he dashed across the beach.

Being the competitive devil, Minho ran with utmost speed, not caring that Jinki is not very light for a guy who looks like a kid and how the wind is sweeping his hair into Jinki’s face whom was having a hard time getting rid of all the hair in his mouth and trying to breathe and grab onto Minho for his life all at the same time. Competition was written all over Minho’s face and his gaze threatening to burn anything that gets in his way, while you can see pure terror and purple on Jinki’s face due to the lack of oxygen and fear building up in the back of his throat.

Jonghyun on the other hand ran with minimal effort as the angel on his back didn’t even weight much to him, because one, Taemin is very light for a guy and two, even if he did weigh much, Jonghyun would never, ever admit that he’s heavy and still run a mile with little effort before he is just too awesome of a demon to bring himself down in front of everyone.

Within seconds Jonghyun’s mad-dash did not fail him and he let Taemin off his back the moment they made it to the finishing line while staring at Minho in mockery, who was still running towards them at full speed with a semi-conscious Jinki on his back. Jonghyun even had the time to hum a tune or two before Minho glared at him with his flaming red eyes while setting the semi-conscious Jinki down.

“Well well, what do we have here? I couldn’t believe shorty boy here could ever beat the alien limbs in such races, I guess I have to reconsider my opinions on the both of you huh,” Key intercepted Minho’s glaring.

“Every game has it’s loser and the loser will get their punishment while the winners will get their well-deserved rewards,” Key grinned and clapped his hands.

“What’s the forfeit for them ?” Taemin bounced up and down tugging Key’s forearm, genuinely excited.

Key smirked, “The losers would have to get all of us drinks and ice cream from the convenient store at the other end of the beach, while speaking to everyone in kiddish tones, even to each other and Minho would have to piggyback Jinki all the way,” he grinned triumphantly at his own brilliant idea.

Taemin and Jonghyun laughed out loud to what Key had said as they saw how Minho’s face dropped and Jinki staring at Key’s face with slacked jaws as if he had just seen a giant millipede crawling its way out of Key’s mouth.

“Wait, then what do we get?” Taemin asked as he calmed down all his laughing.

“You guys get to enjoy the sun with me and Joonmi under the beach brolly while waiting for their return, what else?” Key laughed.

“So you just planned a date course for the two of them while Taemin and I have to suffer with you!? What sort of reward is that?!” Jonghyun gaped unbelievably at the master of all evil.

“Hmm…if you were the loser, the “date course” would be totally different,” Key mused.

“Damn you Key, damn you!” Jonghyun muttered and he still thinks that Key is evil, plain evil.

With no other choice, Minho and Jinki set off on their little journey to the convenient store. First few minutes were spent in a comfortable silence but Jinki finally broke the silence with his best rendition of the three little pigs, “Minho-ah, what ice cream do you liku?” Jinki snickered.

Minho laughed heartily over Jinki’s speech, “Hahaha, you’re so funny Jinki!” he continued to laugh.

“Yah! We have to speak to each other in this tone too remember?” said boy pouted.

From the corner of his eyes, Minho noticed how Jinki’s face would be twisted with emotions whenever he spoke in his kiddish voice, he’s liking this already. So with that, Minho replied Jinki with his own kiddish voice which sounded very much like some turtle pokemon to Jinki, “I like vanilla ones, and you?” he chuckled.

“Oh! Me too~~~” Jinki exclaimed and the both of them laughed like little children who found their best playmate in the neighbourhood playground, not bothering how everyone they passed by were giving them the ‘are-they-idiots’ look.

They quickly got into the shop and started choosing all the ice cream and drinks for everyone based on their likings and also not forgetting their own vanilla ice creams. During the whole process, they were speaking to each other and the shop keeper ajumma in their kiddish tones and more than being annoyed, the ajumma was far more amused by how two handsome boys would be doing this in public and they are simply just too cute to dislike. Before bidding goodbye, the ajumma reminded them not to strain their voices too much and told them to have fun.

With that they went on their way back to the other end of the beach where the rest of them were at, singing random songs and laughing at how their voices would break when they tried to hit the high notes in the songs with their newfound piggy and turtle voices.

The rest of the day was spent with lots of running, joking, laughing and eating, everyone was having fun and when the sun started setting with a light drizzling coming down , it’s time for them to go home.

-On the way back-

Minho was the one who took the wheel, allowing Jinki and his umma have their little moment in the back of the car as Jinki dozed off with his head on Joonmi’s laps.

Everyone else were doing what the usually did, Key idly flipping through the latest edition of VOGUE.

Jonghyun on the other hand was staring aimlessly outside of the window with his ipod playing which he paid attention neither.

Taemin was drawing little stick figures on his notebook, making up a picture of little stickmen marching behind a gigantic ink dinosaur.

All of them were aware of the mother and son moment at the back of the car but chose not to acknowledge.

Joonmin stroked Jinki’s head gently, soothing out his tangled locks which still had some sand in them.

None of the four wanted to see the sad look in Joonmi’s eyes. Choosing not to see how much pain they would be bringing her at the end of everything, Jinki’s life. She’ll be left alone, just because of them, because of their cruel game.

None of them would address this to one another, not wanting to touch the forbidden topic, Jinki.
Minho was trying his best to focus on his driving, but subconsciously he let loss a question which he failed to keep to himself, one that all four of them kindly ignored. Because the answer was of the obvious.

Must we do this?
