After Jinki’s sudden image transformation, the four guardians couldn’t help but be bugged with the thought of what caused the boy’s radical change. It was just so unlike him to do stuff like that. He was never one who really bothered about his appearance not that he was ugly, he’s way beyond that. Lee Jinki is a beautiful, intelligent guy, and even though he is klutzy, and trips a bit too much, that just makes him real to everyone. If he were way too perfect, then wouldn’t that make him unreal, almost like god himself? He, who only cared about his umma, studying, and how to keep all his books from getting any harm and last but not least, chicken. So he is definitely one who could live and breathe just with these things.

There was a thick atmosphere hanging in the air, all four of the guardians were sitting down at the table staring at one another with confusion written all over their faces. Taemin was the first who broke the silence with a sigh, “We have to talk to him.” He simply stated before he got up from his spot and went upstairs. A few minutes later, the angel returned with the source of all their confusion in tow.

“Alright, now tell us what’s wrong Jinki? And don’t start denying it because all of us could tell you’re acting weird,” Key asked, eyeing the boy wearily.

Jinki looked up at Key, not even avoiding the looks that Death and the rest were giving him, “What do you mean by what’s wrong?”

“You know fairly well what’s wrong!” Death couldn’t help but to raised his voice at the boy.

All Jinki did was blinked innocently at the yelling male as if he really didn’t know anything.

Then Jonghyun stood up and shook the boy in distress, “We’re talking about your change! You hair, you clothes, even y-y-your character…” demon boy choked out with tears welling up in his eyes.

No matter how much Jinki tried, he would never be able to pull off his act when someone starts crying. They could be frustrated, angry, yell or even strangle him for all they want. But he just couldn’t stand anyone crying because of him, he don’t want anyone to get hurt.

“…yah, Jonghyun-ah…” Jinki’s eyes softened, revealing those kind eyes that everyone missed so much even if it was just a day.

“What happened to you? D-do you even know how worried we are? I nearly died of (*insert sniff*) a heart attack when I saw you stepping out of that fitting room,” Jonghyun wept while shaking the boy’s shoulders.

Jinki sighed and pushed the crying boy to face him, “Alright Jjong, I’ll tell you all about it. Just stop crying already, I hate seeing others cry.”

So Jonghyun sniffed a few times to get rid of all his mucus and wiped his tears off with the back of his sweater’s sleeve. “Ne?” he replied with his puppy eyes, with the others staring intently at Jinki, waiting for him to spill everything to them.

Said boy chewed on his lips nervously, “Well, you see…”

“So now you’re saying that all these, were all for becoming a devil?!” Jonghyun exclaimed. Jinki played with his fingers and nodded to the demon’s question while avoiding everyone’s eyes.

“Pfft, what did you even see in that freakishly tall devil anyway?” Key scowled, totally unhappy with Jinki’s choice.

“I thought you would have chosen me Jinki-ah, it’s so much closer to who you are,” Taemin pouted.

Minho had that shit-eating grin on his face, while Jonghyun whined how unfair it was that Jinki didn’t choose him. Jonghyun felt that Jinki was bewitched by Minho and how he wasn’t making the right decision. Key and Taemin had to silent him with the silencing spell and a duct tape for safety measure because his whining was getting too loud.

Jinki blushed when the word bewitched was used it Jonghyun’s ramble, hence he stuttered his way to grab everyone’s attention.

“N-no I’m not bewitched! I-I-I just thought that I’ve been nice all my life and it would be fun to just change and try to be bad for once. Not that I’m saying that Minho is bad!” the boy blinked furiously.

“WHO SAID YOU CAN’T BE BAD WHEN YOU’RE A DEMON?! JUST LOOK AT HOW BADASS I AM!!” Jonghyun screamed before he broke down into a wailing mess again.

“How in the world did he manage to do that?” Taemin threw his arms up in exasperation.

Minho could only pat Jinki on his shoulder and smiled reassuringly to the boy who looked like he was about to cry from demon boy’s sudden outburst.

Kibum rolled his eyes at his supposedly best friend, “The decision’s final no matter how much you cry now. If you cried any harder, you’ll probably end up self-combusting yourself.”

Everyone else laughed while Jonghyun’s wails died down.” I don’t want to end up in hell burning. I don’t want to see them there all lovey-dovey like!” he pouted as he wiped his tears and snorts messily onto the back of his hand before wiping it off on the innocent angel.

“Eww gross you!!! Ugh!” Taemin swiped his invaded area with Jonghyun’s sweater.

“Well it’s not like you would be able to burn in hell anyway, a demon’s death just marks the beginning of its journey in nothingness,” Minho pointed out smugly.

Jonghyun pouted even more and that made Jinki thought that for a moment, Jonghyun actually resembled Frank the pug.

Taemin chuckled before interrupting the demon’s moment, “Yah, Jinki thinks that you look like the dog from Men In Black and you’re gonna get wrinkles if you do that any longer, so stop making that face already.”

“How could you even think of that after breaking my heart!” Jonghyun looked utterly scandalized. Everyone else just laughed at him. Jinki threw him an apologetic look before joining the others in laughter and eventually Jonghyun laughed along too.

“So all we got to do now is to help Jinki learn how to be a proper devil for the remaining time,” Minho said.
Jinki felt at peace for once.

The second time Jinki was at peace was on the day he died. He knew this day was coming and he was well informed of what would happen to him when it’s time.

He had learnt much of what a devil’s life is like for the past month and he realized that a devil doesn’t exactly mark that one’s cold, evil, and malicious. Just like Minho, he’s always kind to everyone around him. He always offers to help others and he smiles most of the time. If no one mentioned who he was, Jinki would never have known that Minho’s a devil. The same goes for the rest of them. Angel, death, demon, devil and human, these are just titles that differentiates their way of living and everything that they do is just part of their “job”. They all get along fine, in fact really well and Jinki couldn’t help but feel fortunate that he met the four of them instead of anyone else. He can truly feel the warmth and love that all of them gave him.

Before the final day came, Jinki stayed up the entire night watching his umma in her sleep. Reminiscing the time that they’ve had spent together, knowing very well that he would be leaving her forever when dawn breaks.

He felt weaker by the passing minute and decided that it would be best if he leaves this world in the comfort of his bed. He got up from the side of his umma’s bed and quietly slipped out of the room not wanting to wake her up but he didn’t make it, collapsing halfway to his room.

While he was slipping in and out of consciousness, he heard his umma sobbing, trying to wake him up hoping that he was just pulling a prank on her.

Not long later, there was a rush of footsteps approaching his room and he heard his mother begging those people out there to save him. He felt hands on him, for a moment he was lifted and seconds later he was on a moving vehicle, it was probably an ambulance, judging from the ring of sirens he heard before falling into unconscious.

During which, he subconsciously heard voices calling his names and he knew those voices by heart, his time was up. When Minho’s voice became clearer, “Jinki, let’s go,” was all he heard before sitting up and stepping down from the hospital bed.

There was Dr. Choi, his neurologist trying to revive his life with other doctors and nurses helping. But it was too late.

Then Minho called out to him again.

“Jinki it’s time to go,” the boy turned to where the devil’s voice came from. He was smiling sweetly at him, comforting and almost loving. He knows that one day, the other would love him the way he does and he knew that he would be happier this way.

With that, Jinki left with Minho and the other three in towed. Missing his mother’s wails after his death was announced. It would be too painful to witness that. It was his father’s death anniversary and now, it was his too.

Angel, Death, Demon and the Devil.
Would you be able to tell their difference?
For me, never.
Not when they are all so breathtakingly beautiful altogether.
And now, I am one of them too.
