This was a lovely piece of writing. I particularly liked this bit:

"This… love. I didn't know it could be like this - fun and simple and easy."

He presses his lips to hers, laughs as he says, "Maybe because you're doing it right this time."

I could see Blair having that sort of realisation on the actual show (if the writers have the sense to differentiate Dair from her previous relationships that way).

Off to read part two, now... :)

"Serena!" she screeches. "It's always going to go back to her, isn't it? You're always going to pick her over me," she accuses him, her voice catching on the tears that she is fighting so furiously against.

Slowly, Dan picks himself up from his chair and rounds the table to stand before her. "Blair," he says calmly, gripping her arms, "You are the one that I want to be with. You and no one else."

"But everyone always picks Serena ," she says weakly.

"Not me." He cups her chin with his hand and draws her eyes up to his. "I choose you, Blair." -

This is the whole theme of her insecurities and I do not blame her. She grew up under Serena's shadow and her first real boyfriend chose Serena to cheat on her. Chuck was with her because he could not be with Serena. Only Dan chose her when he could have easily chosen Serena, and as a matter of fact during Season 5 she was begging him to be with her. Brilliant writing.
