first rehearsal = terrifying.

i have never been this nervous about anything in my entire life. everyone did so well and what if i suck? and this isn't fishing for compliments, this is just me being crushed by pressure. i mean, if i fuck this up, or i have trouble learning something, i slow the whole show down... or worse, ruin it for everyone. what ( Read more... )

I love you so much, Meghan Walsh, and I have all the confidence in the world that you can pull this off. And by this I don't only mean Evita, but I mean college and the whole Jeff situation, as well. You are capable. I'm just going to leave it at that because well, you're capable of anything and everything from where I stand. You're incredible. I could help you practice for Evita, too, if you want. I learned the entire thing this summer, so it isn't really hard for me to pick it up and I can run it back and fourth you know, you as Evita, and I could be Peron or Che or whoever it is you're singing with. I want to be able to help you out somehow if you need it.

But no matter what happens, I truely believe that you'll be able to pull through and shine beautifully. I'm going to seriously miss you next year. But let's not talk about that yet. The Spring play hasn't even come up yet. =]

I'll tell you right now that I know you will pull through. Evita is such a hard role, so you're going to have to work hard at it but I know you have more than enough talent. EVERYONE is going to have trouble with it in the beginning. I know Alison will also help you as much as you need it - whatever it takes to make the show amazing. =)

Ah, I love S.T.A.G.E. And Meghan Walsh.

You are most certainly gonna rock at Eva! Mr. Ulman wouldn't have picked you if he didn't think you could do it. I KNOW you can do this. EVERYONE knows you can do this. It took me a little while to be able to pick up things quickly (but I had my mother to help me with that). I find that usually listening to the song for about 5 times, then singing with the CD helps a lot. But then again, that might just work for me. Anyway, you'll be spectacular.

And you know a thing about stage fright, Donny Osmand & Barbara Striesand still get stage fright. ;)

We're all gonna miss you next year. It just won't be the same.

ok, to offer the only expertise i have on any part of this:

merengue is the easiest dance that ever existed. scout's honor. if you have a basic sense of rhythm, you cannot lose with merengue. it's just the extension of how you would naturally move to music of that beat. you will not have any trouble. i promise. i can't fuckin' waltz, but merengue? no problem. furthermore, i assume you have a partner-- so you really just need to be able to follow a lead. and obviously you have scott and he's a great dancer. i actually CAN'T follow a lead at all and i can kind of follow scott's. so. you're golden.

and y'know, in general... you don't owe anyone anything other than to do the best you can. and that includes ENJOYING the process. y'know. which doesn't generally involve panic attacks.

yeah. keep on keepin' on. if all else fails, just flash the audience and walk offstage.

I'll help you! But you're about 200 times better than me, so that wouldn't really help at all, lol.

but honestly, i don't know anything. like i just do it because it's fun. i'm really an idiot when it comes to music, i can't read it or write it and i don't understand any of the technicalities of singing.

so anything you know, is more than i do. so help me. :)

Ha, sure, come over and I'll teach you all 5 singing lessons worth of my knowledge.

Oh, one thing my teacher told me is to try and work on a classical piece because it helps discipline your voice.
