1. Six word fic: Prompt: Air That voice, takes his breath away.
2. One sentence: Prompt: Reality : The dream of him is better than reality, so Dave just goes back to sleep.
3. A poem: prompt: star:
“You are.”
You are the star you’ve always been shining so brightly that I cease to breathe.
God set you in my orbit for reasons beyond me.
Your spark burns away the edges of my being and I am but a dead star of things used to be.
Hope.
Love.
Hate.
Trust
And fate
None of it matters
You never cease to shine for that I am glad.
You never see me I am but the back drop a tiny bit of sky. Space. The secret you keep.
A star is what you are.
That’s true enough. You blaze across someone else’s sky. His sky.
4. Drabble: prompt: Silence:
“Silent Sorrows.”
Funeral homes are silent. It makes Kurt want to scream even now. They aren’t here for him and he’s not six. Dave’s father’s dead. Dave sits hunched on himself staring at the oak coffin.
Kurt’s done that his mother’s coffin was gray, and covered in pink roses.
The viewing starts in five minutes. Dave hasn’t moved at all for thirty.
“David.” Kurt moves to him. Dave’s hand manacles his wrist. He squeezes just slightly.
“Fancy.” He looks up. “Just breathe. I’ll get you through.” he kisses Kurt’s palm and nods.
The double doors open and in pour family, friends, mourners.
5. Ficlet: Prompts: Spinning, Never,:
“Spin Me ‘Round”
Dave loves the merry go round its his absolute favorite thing in the whole park. It makes him feel like he’s flying. The world around him a whirling, spinning mess of green grass, blue sky, and summer sun. He totally loves it.
It stops and he’s looking up into the doll like face of Kurt Hummel. He’s wearing sparkly pants and a pink tee shirt. He’s pretty some part of Dave knows you aren’t supposed to think that about other boys but he can’t help it, as weird as the boy is he’s really pretty.
“May I play?” Kurt asks hope shining in his eyes. “Sure why not?” he climbs on and Dave hollers to his sister Annie. “Start us again!” the girl gives the contraption a running start. The world is spinning again Kurt’s laugh is a nice edition.
“Hello earth to David?” Fancy waves his hand before Dave’s face knocking him from his reverie.
“Right sorry. When did I know I loved you? I think I’ve always known. Its this omnipresent thing like the sky it never really leaves. Now the first time I thought you were pretty? That was right here. We were six.” he spins the merry go round and climbs on.
Kurt laughs and the world spins its perfect.
6. Fic: Years, Spring, Diamond.:
“Replacement.”
They had a thing in college it was brief and private. It was hot in a way Kurt’s never really gotten over. Dave Karofsky’s the best he’s ever had with a chuckle Kurt decides God, if there is one likes irony. He likes it just a little bit cold too Kurt thinks.
That was years ago. That affair that left Kurt permanently changed.
In the present he’s staring at Dave’s painfully pretty wife. Her name’s Charlotte and she works as the receptionist at Hummel Tire and Lube. They’d married the spring of his senior year of college. He only knows because Carole for all her good heartedness is a gossip.
That gigantic diamond on her hand taunts him in its glittery way. Declaring her to be Kurt’s replacement.
And damn it if she isn’t the exact opposite of Kurt, gender aside.
Blonde, leggy, nice boobs, (If he was into that kind of thing.) If she sings Kurt may just slit his wrists.
“You can go sit with Karofsky’s wife. She makes good coffee.” Finn says and suddenly Kurt remembers he’s here to get his tires rotated, not stare at that beautiful little lie of David’s.
He walks away from Finn’s odd stare without a word. Without preamble he goes into the offices and listens as Charlotte ends her call.
“Yeah baby that’d be great thanks.” She grins. She hangs up. “You’re the bosses son right?”
“One of them.” Kurt gives her what he hopes is a bright grin. She seems to buy it. Acting classes were good for something.
“Would you like some coffee while you wait? Finn says I make the best.”
“Sure, sounds lovely.”
“How do you take it?” she asks. Moving toward the coffee pot.
“Black.” he replies. She pours some into a turquoise mug his nephew made for Burt. She hands him the mug. He takes a sip and grudgingly admits its good.
“Sam made this mug.” Kurt says to make conversation. He really wishes Finn would hurry with his tires.
“Sam’s just the cutest little thing. My husband I don’t have kids yet. I hope they are as cute as Sammy.” Something like sorrow punches at Kurt’s chest the thought of Dave having kids and the perfect suburbanite life makes him ache.
Charlotte straightens her pencil skirt and grabs her coat. “My husband’s taking me to lunch.”
“Nice.” Kurt nods some part of Kurt wants to run. Another larger more masochist part keeps him in place.
Dave arrives in a suit and tie and Kurt has a brief flash of helping him dress for his first real job. An internship at a Toledo law firm.
Dave freezes a moment breath backs up into his lungs and Kurt can feel the moment his eye catch on him. There’s one hot frozen moment between them that says everything.
I miss you. I love you. I need you. God you look good. It all goes unsaid.
Charlotte breaks it. “This is Burt’s son.”
“We know each other Charlie. You ready?”
She nods.
“Good to see you Kurt.”
All he can do is nod. He sips his cool coffee and tries to forget…him.
