It has always seemed that June often couldn't be bothered to hire an editor for a number of their novels. They probably just rushed it into production with whatever they thought would be acceptible quality.I'm not saying the translation is bad, only that I've seem fans put more effort into tranlating works.

I read the first 2 books as well, and although the plot was interesting and could potentially develop, the linguistically void way the translation was handled was a bit of a turn off. The sentences were short and choppy, reminding me of a grade 2 English reader (subject notwithstanding). At times like this I wish I understood Japanese. I imagine the prose would be a lot more flowing.

Lol. I agree with that. For the first novel, I willed myself to be okay with the crappy quality of the English because it was one of DMP's first novel releases, but after a while and as the spelling mistakes were getting less and less, I was hoping the sentence quality would get better too, but it seems to continually get worse and worse. It's very disappointing and no author would want to see their work get such treatment. I find it awfully disrespectful to the original author.

thanks so much for this review. I think I'll buy this book now, and complete the series. (I hate starting a series and then finding that it is left unfinished, so I'm happy now that this completes things.) Thank you for all your work bringing us your reviews!
