hmmm...all these pictures and descriptions just make me want to visit japan all the more, but that's not likely to happen anytime in the near future
i'm holding my copy of Harry Potter right now. i ordered it a few weeks ago, before i left for ______, so it was waiting for me when we got back yesterday. i need to finish my other book right now, which, interestingly enough, is a collection of translated short stories from one Akutagawa Ryunosuke called Rashomon and 17 Other Short Stories. They're fairly interesting in that they're a good look for me into japanese culture and history. But they're certainly different from the english literature with which I'm familiar.
that picture with the stones reminds me of how we all used to work on jigsaw puzzles together. i'll see if i can't find one out here and take it back home so that we can work on one the next time i'm home (who knows when that will be).

The Harry Potter book did arrive; I'm only on page 350 right now.
I hear that Rashomon is a famous story.
Putting the wall together reminded us of working on the puzzles, too.
We thought of getting a puzzle, too, but then remembered that we are supposed to be taking things back for spacealien_vamp. Every ounce matters since they lowered the weight limit to 50 pounds per bag. Not so many years ago, it was 70 pounds. And last year it was $25 overweight up to 70 pounds. This year it is $50 for the same. It's still cheaper than mailing it, though.
