everything could be everything if only we were older

It's easier to get away these days than it usually is - between the economy and his politics, Alexander has been something of a nightmare at the office, and his staff is all too eager to get him to take a break. It's not that he doesn't do good work - the best - but it gets stressful on his people, and he knows it ( Read more... )

Jack can probably refrain from the strip club approach, much has he enjoys his usual habit of throwing beautiful women at his friends. There's less of a point to it when neither of them are interested. Not no point, because there's always a point in putting on a show, but certainly less.

He arrives in the Nexus equally well-dressed but still casual, slacks and a nice shirt that is miraculously free of hoody-like bits. "Waiting for someone?" he asks, playfully innocent as he strolls up to the man. Yes, looks like he's in that kind of mood. Having company is exciting, if not quite in the same way with Alexander as with, say, Hyde, and Jack will do his best to be a good host.

Very little is as exciting as Hyde, Alexander would suspect if he knew the full account, but that kind of excess has never truly appealed to him. He partook in it as a teenager, when he was out of his mind and didn't understand how to cope with the turmoil and pain and difference within him. But it's always been a danger, and he's always hated himself for it; between Cleitus and the stupid, stupid things he's done in this day and age, he's happy to leave those vices firmly behind him.

"Prince Charming," he supplies, and smiles in greeting, hands in the pockets of his black wool coat. "And don't you look lovely today."

Jack's reasons aren't dissimilar, if less dramatic; he just hasn't grown out of them yet. But for Alexander's sake he can play a different role tonight, maybe one a few inches closer to sincerity.

"Nothing less would suit my company," he replies with a smile of his own. Part of him realizes he will have to stop flirting shamelessly with Alexander once they're in Shiloh, or at least in public, but not here and not yet. He's having a hard enough time refraining in not-so-hidden corners of Altar Mansion; here it's a hopeless effort. "I hope you'll find Shiloh equally to your liking. Shall we?" A nod to his PINpoint.

He smiles, laughing quietly. His flirting is, perhaps unfairly, merely an impulse with people he finds interesting. He likes people, and likes making people smile - it's easy, for him, and sometimes he doesn't even realize he's doing it. (The force of Alexander's pointed affection, by contrast, is not unlike a freight train.)

Of course, there's also a part of him that's curious as to how deep Jack's closet goes - a selfish curiosity, but he can hardly help that, in his position. "Lead on, oh fearless one."
