It's been a long time, dont get me wrong, I am still very much a part of LJ land, I read and comment but for some reason can't write. I dont quite know why I dont write except it takes time. So I now have time and will therefore write. I am sitting in a lab at the University of South Carolina right now. A place I never thought I would end up ( Read more... )

I completely sympathize. I'm feeling all kinds of those things and it's making me a little bit of a mental/emotional ticking time bomb. I've decided to take conscious efforts to relax so I don't get overwhelmed living back home, planning to move thousands of miles away, and missing all of my friends in Boston. Today was odd. I was watching something on the travel channel about the Boston Strangler and I went "awww. I miss Boston."

I'm feeling with you. I don't know quite how to shake all my attachments to tiny things I don't have anymore, how to stop constantly missing professors and fabulous friends. I'm starting by drinking some raspberry tea. . .

You get rid of the feeling with two things: time and immersing yourself in your new lifestyle so fully that you don't have time to remember the old one. Well, I'm not really telling the truth. It's been a year and I'm still not over being at college.
Leaving Boston is hard, but you'll remember it as "your city" when you return. It'll have changed some by the time you come back, but it's still the place where you went to college. Visiting is comforting.
I understand the need to step away from LJ. I did the same thing, and I don't think it was a bad choice. I read people's entries and comment, but I don't feel I have a whole lot to say about myself. I've written maybe 4 or 5 entries in the past year, mostly wedding-planning milestones. Your priorities change as you move through phases of life, and that's okay.

Wow. Your post is weird in many ways. Good ways, and reflective of my own experiences.

It's been too long since I've seen you or talked to you. Life is different and the same and changing.

I graduated too, and I loved my last few weeks for many of the same reasons.

I don't know what I'm doing next year. But I have an apartment and an email address: jjmcmurray@gmail.com

Let me know how you are doing, because it has been too long. I miss you!

PS- Why do we have each other's LJs and not emails? What's up with that!?!
