Okay, to start I have a simple recipe recommendation for everyone. This week my after school treat has consisted of one simple, yet delicious dish: vanilla bean ice cream topped with sliced bananas and almonds with warm caramel twirled all over. I think it might be even better if I could substitute the almonds for a thin, elegantly-styled cookie ( Read more... )

I'm surprised your school didn't do dancing lessons before the prom. I remember the kids at my school getting at least three lessons before the prom.

I don't think I would have gone to dancing lessons if they had given them, though. Oh well, a lot of people seemed to have a good time bopping up and down, shaking their asses. But it's not my thing...

We didn't have a prom at my high school. I'm still glad. So you let this boy, who is not a particularly close friend, buy you an expensive meal?

Of course! Wouldn't you if you had been in my position? I never ruin a perfect opportunity for a guy to be a gentleman, you know.

Unless he's independently wealthy, he got the money for your expensive dinner from working some crappy job or from his parents. He can't afford to be a gentleman if that's his only opportunity to do so. Or, if it was an opportunity, it was far from a perfect one.

However, he did act the gentleman. I'm interested in how you acted the lady.

My last reply was an attempt at being playful and cute... However, just to clear things up, he received the money from his parents, I'm almost certain. I know it didn't come from a crappy job because he used to work at the same crappy place I did, and he, like myself, also quit after working there for some time. (I'm actually considering working there again over the summer so I can save up some money before I go off to college.) Anyway, what is important here is the fact that of the four couples that went to dinner together that night, the guy paid for the girl in each case. Maybe it's different elsewhere, but at my school prom seems to be an event that the guy is expected to pay for. I do not always just take people's money, though. When I go out with friends, sometimes they pay for mine, but then I make up for it next time by paying for theirs; and they do the same in return. Of course, we most frequently just pay for own meals or whatever it may be ( ... )

Glad you had a good time; I went with a group to my prom, but it went off kinda like yours, which was pretty fun :) We did have a black-tie dance this year, and my girlfriend and I mutually agree that dancing would...not turn out well. ^_^

Happy Feet and Pride & Prejudice: both movies I thought I'd hate but are pretty damn good! Nice choice for a Saturday night.
