So, we started out getting up a 6:30 so we could take the car to get it safety inspected. We dropped it off at the gas station, bright and shiny early, then got some coffee and walked over to this little open air-flea market-artisan craft thingy. (It takes a couple of hours around here to get a saftey inspection done, and we were at the end of the queue.) Tom got a couple of CDs, I snagged a beautiful blue shell necklace, a pair of huge silver earrings, and, the best part...I replaced my foot! Those of you who have known me since the early days of my nose piercing should remember that my first nose ring was a tiny silver earring in the shape of a little foot. I loved it even more than the bunny earring that replaced it. Sadly, at the end of my sophomore year, it got knocked out, when I got hit in the face at a Misfits Cover Band party, and lost forever. I finally found a new foot stud and it's sitting proudly in my nose now. *squee*
We still had some time to kill, so we took the Metro up to the mall near where I work, so I could get some more clothes for work and Tom could look for a new messenger bag (he didn't find one). I got some good stuff (<3 H&M), but I could not find a pair of jeans to save my life. I've had 3 pairs of wearable pants for about 2 weeks, and 2 pairs for several months before that. I really needed to replace some jeans, as my most loved pair has huge holes in the crotch. I especially needed to replace them that day for reasons which will become clear later on. Anyway, H&M fucking deserted me in my time of need. They've always been spectacular for my jeans and pants needs. I tried on a pair of the exact same jeans I was wearing that day, in a larger size, and they didn't fit. WTF? So, after much wangsting, I ended up in a store I'd rather not shop in, paying way too much for a pair of jeans that will be hanging off my ass once they break in. Actually, right now, I can take them off without unbuttoning them. They are nice jeans, though. And I was mega desperate.
Anyway, Josh met up with us at the mall, played Tom Petty's new album (very good) for us, and we came back home and played Smash Bros for about an hour until the car was ready. By this point, it's 3, and we have to rush off to the gas station to pick up the car, then bolt for Baltimore.
...So that we could see an O's game from a fucking SKYBOX!!! Tom's company had their "day at the game" for all employees, and they rented a skybox and catered the hell out of it. The O's lost, which was disappointing even though I don't support them) but we ate fruit and veggies and expensive cheese and fucking delicious crabcakes that were almost entirely crab and roast beast and hotdogs cooked in kraut and brownies and cookies and cheesecake and all the beer we wanted, ALL FOR FREE! It fucking RULED! AND, it was airconditioned in the skybox, but we still had a crystal clear view of the game from inside. No watching on the television for this girl here.
After the game, instead of coming straight home, we phoned up Nat and Liz. We've lived 45 minutes away from them for 8 months now, and we haven't hung out once. So we finally did, and it was great. I drank the first mojito of my life, closely followed by the second. This is a big deal for me, as someone who loathes rum with everything that's in me. De-fucking-licious. We gossiped a bit, met their doggy, and found out that they got engaged the night before. Damn.
Seriously, what is with all of the people my and Tom's age getting married all over the place? Josh was going to his friends' wedding after hanging out with us, Tom's friend from high school is getting married next spring, Tom's younger brother's friends got married last month, now Nat and Liz are engaged. Jeezum crow! It totally feels like everyone and their mom is getting married. Is there something in the water or something?
Anyway, we're getting up early again tomorrow, to *hopefully* get the car registered. We shouldn't have any problems, I don't think. Just, we both have to take the morning off work. *Sigh* I can't wait for these shenanigans to be over, finally, christ. Cross your e-fingers for me.
